"Thank you for working hard today, my husband....Ah, no, sorry....master Kong."
Arthit greeted him with a Wai at the front door when Kongpob came back home from work.
"....Did your mom say it to your dad.....?"
Arthit nodded and smiled adorably with a dimple on his cheek. "Yes, Mom used to tell my dad. You know, When I was a kid, she even had me kiss his cheek." Arthit scratched his temple. "......Truly envy your dad.", Arthit felt Kongpob's eyes settle on his lips. "H, How was your work today......?", He walked first towards the staircase, carrying Kongpob's bag for him.
"Super busy. I've had incessant meetings for a new project."
"So, that's why you haven't eaten dinner yet. What about lunch?"
"We got lunch delivered. What about you...? You didn't call me today, Oon."
"I went downtown and I dropped by parents' house on my way back. I had a late lunch with them."
"Why didn't you call me to pick you up....?"
"It's okay, master. I took a taxi."
Following Arthit upstairs, Kongpob flashed back to their married life in this house before the accident. Not long after his grandmother's death they moved in this house. Around that time, Arthit moved over to a new company. Due to his hard work, he got promoted fast. His job called for frequent business trips, which resulted in their spending less time together. Actually, he had spent Christmas alone for three years including last year.
"P'Kong, take a shower first, I'll set the table for dinner."
"........haven't you had dinner yet? It's already nine p.m."
"I told you I had a late lunch."
As a matter of fact, it was rather special to Kongpob that Arthit waited for him at home this early at night and talked about their daily routine. Hardly had they had a spare time to sit and talk in the first place. Nevertheless, he hadn't noticed that their married life had missed something ordinary but important.
Actually, Arthit hesitated to move in this house at first even though they had already inherited it. Kongpob estimated that Arthit must have felt sorry for his mother, an only child of his late grandmother. They even had a big fight over their moving. In the end, he shouted at Arthit angrily .
< Okay, if you are sorry for her that much, we can give her this house this time, but, Arthit Rojnapat! What if she would like you to give up on her son next time? Would you give up on me for her!>
Of course they were reconciled with each other, and moved in this house. However, Arthit had seemed to hide something in his mind since then.
"P'Kong... Are you okay...?"
"Ah....! Yes, I am okay."
Kongpob got into the bathroom, and soon Arthit heard a dripping sound of water from it. "Okay, dinner.", He made his way downstairs.
A soft smile crossed his lips while Arthit was setting the table with the dishes his mom had cooked for them.
Heating the soup, he recalled the day he fainted at the mall a week ago.
When Arthit came to himself , he was lying on the bed in the emergency room.
"I want back home.", That was all Arthit said.
They left the hospital to drive home. They didn't talk each other until Kongpob pulled over to the roadside.
