I don't need perfection
That ship was never meant to exist
So I stopped looking for it
I need honesty and effort
I need you to represent yourself well when you stand before me
And when I can't grace you with my presence.
I don't want to set boundaries
I just need you to respect the unspoken ones and make sure I'm never out here defending your honor while you make sure to diminish mine.
Tell me what you're thinking
The mind can't be trusted either
I'm a victim to the games it plays so please take solace in my ability to relate.
I don't need apologies
I need you to not make moves that will let sorry leave your lips.
I need you to be an adult and treat me like one because it's all good until we're forced to be adults, you know what I'm talking about
When kids get involved or legal documents are left on the table.
But let's not be pessimistic about a future we haven't even started.
I know all relationships have storms but can we battle thunder storms and tornadoes, the small ones that don't make the national news because it's easier to recover from.
But if you're worth it
And I pray you are
I'll walk on the sun and chase shooting stars for you
All you have to do is increase your value and be worth it.
