[12] Council of Elders

Sorry this took a little longer than I wanted it to, I was trying to find the best way to write what happened in this chapter and yeah... but anyways I hope you guys like it. Also, it's not been edited. Hopefully it isn't trash.

"Hey guys, it's been a while," a smirk curled onto Yuzuki's lips as she saw Hinata and Kiba gaping at her.

"Hinata, you're even cuter than the last time I saw you." She grinned at the girl as she blushed.

Then she turned to Kiba, noticing how he'd grown even more roguishly handsome than he was three years ago. Akamaru was at his side, not sure whether to greet her excitedly or to stay at his Master's side. "Hey Kiba, you're looking... well." The way she said "well" caused a blush to rise to his cheeks, matching the Hyūga princess's.

"What are you doing here? You traitor!" Kiba was unsure of the word he had used. After all, they were friends not too long ago.

"Oh, your words hurt me, Kiba." She gave him a wolfish grin. The Hatake could tell that the Root was close by, she had to act now.

Kiba was ready to say something when she appeared before him, "I don't have much time, take this," she grabbed his hand and pressed a folded piece of paper into the palm of his hand. "There is information regarding several members of the Akatsuki and their abilities, and the details of the destruction of the Uchiha clan. Tell Tsunade that Danzo Shimura has taken me as prisoner."

Kiba's eyes widened at the realization of why she'd joined the Akatsuki. Shock was evident on his face as his two teammates were prepared to fight the girl if she harmed their comrade. "Give this to Tsunade. Can I trust you to do that?" Her lips brushed his ear as she pulled away from him, looking into his eyes.

The boy swallowed, the information was a lot to absorb but, he nodded.

She leaned back in to whisper into his ear, "Please, take care of Otaru while all this gets sorted out. And thank you."

Several masked ninja appeared around the group, ready to strike the former Akatsuki member along with the three Leaf Chūnin.

"Kiba, don't be alarmed," the boy opened his mouth to ask her what she meant but in the next second she had his back pressed against her chest with a kunai at his throat.

"Don't come any closer!" She shouted at the enemy ninja.

"Please! Don't hurt him!" Hinata was in her eight trigrams stance. She did not want to fight her old friend. If she hurt Kiba, though, she would do it for the sake of the boy who was like a brother to her.

Kiba grit his teeth, he had no idea what was going on, all he knew for sure was that Yuzuki was a spy for the Leaf that had been implanted in the Akatsuki organization.

The ANBU surrounding them closed in slowly, "Let him go, he has nothing to do with all this." One of the masked ninja ordered, pulling out a kunai, ready to go in for an attack. The Inuzuka slipped the folded up piece of paper into his pocket so that he wouldn't lose it.

"Please, Yuzuki, you don't want to do this!" He decided it was best to go along with whatever the girl had planned.

The Hatake noticed how some of them were still closing in. A sudden realization came to her then--they didn't care if he died.

"Kiba, don't let me down. And tell Shino that he should stop covering only have of his face, he'll get a weird tan line."

She pushed Kiba away, "Otaru, stay with Kiba for the time being."

The boy stumbled forward, once he regained his balance he whirled around, "We'll get you out of this!"

He grabbed Hinata by the wrist and Shino by the collar of his shirt before pulling them towards the Hokage Tower.
