[25] Broken Promises

we left off with the reunion of Sasuke and Yuzuki. So obviously since it's my fic Sasuke's actions and personality will not completely align with Kishimoto's version of him since yuzuki influenced him a bit. So please refrain saying "oh he wouldn't do that." Or "he's so ooc." Because in my universe of naruto he will be written how I want him to be.

Y'all as I get older I just wanna make it a romance but I won't because Naruto isn't exactly a romance manga/anime

The Hatake clenched and unclenched her fists, her heart racing and eyes wide. For one, she had never heard him speak so many words in one go, especially when they were about his feelings. Second, if he cared about her, then why would he attack Naruto and Sakura? And third, she knew that he meant what he said, no matter how much his actions seemed to contradict him.

She chewed the inside of her cheek as she looked at him, trying to come up with a response to what he had claimed. "Hmph," she crossed her arms and looked away from him stubbornly. It was all she could do to not become an emotional mess and embarrass herself in front of him. Even if all she wanted to do was fall apart in his arms, she had to save face and do the opposite.

He betrayed the Leaf and needed to be treated with caution. The owl blinked a few times, watching as Sasuke crossed the distance she had placed between them and grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. The Uchiha wanted her to hold him in her arms, though he knew it wasn't something he deserved. And he needed her to get out of here before Orochimaru found out she was here if he hadn't already.

"Say something," he murmured, resting his forehead against hers.

"Sasuke, what am I supposed to say? You left the Leaf and tried to kill my friends, then you say that I'm the only person you care about? How am I supposed to respond to that?" She wanted to give him another piece of her mind. But most of all, she wanted to be in his arms again. Even if she was feeding into a dangerous delusion.

"That's not what I was hoping for," he murmured.

"Just hold me, you idiot." She retorted, finally giving him a real response. Sasuke did as she said, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulled her against his chest. Truthfully, Yuzuki hadn't expected their reunion to end with her embracing him. She couldn't say that she didn't find comfort in the fact that he still cared about her. She even felt a little smug at the thought of him only caring about her. Naruto and Sakura-0, Yuzuki-1.

She pushed away the slight guilt she felt at that thought, already knowing that what she was feeling now was fleeting and may not last for long. Breathing in deeply, she picked up the scent of rain. A warmth blossomed in her chest as she remembered when he gave her his shirt to replace her ruined one in the Land of Waves.

"Sasuke... come back home with me."

Those words that he dreaded but also longed to hear.

Genma perched himself in the canopy of leaves above the reunited couple, the owl next to him jumped in response and flew down to another branch. He looked down, spotting the two lovebirds hugging it out at the entrance to Orochimaru's Hideout. Unfortunately, he was only there to make sure she came back out of that hideout, with or without Sasuke. Otherwise, he would have captured Sasuke then and there.
