there was nothing more i loved than the ice. the air like daggers against your skin the faster you moved, the cold whispering in intimate tones. i could see my breath pluming before me, and i was alive.

there was nothing more i loved, until i met her.

my soulmate.

how my wrist burned at the mere sight of her, even before i'd known her name or why she didn't seem all that pleased to meet me. her reaction was near the same, though the obvious hesitance in her voice was enough to read.

she was frightened. as was i.

after more than twenty years devote of what most take for granted, my heart nearly burst at the sudden leapt forwards, at the tears falling from her eyes as she admitted what she'd been so desperate to hide. the weigh began to lift. i began to feel free.

nothing could match the way she felt in my arms, or the way our lips touched the first time. dancing between the sheets and under the moonlight, hidden away from reality.

i loved her. so, so much.

though i'd found all i'd ever needed in my trip to japan, it wasn't what i'd come for. soulmates work in mysterious ways, and i knew as much, although my unsurely to continue my previous plan was dwindling. i had everything i could ever ask for, but the boy with the soulful eyes was still waiting. i'd already convinced myself before i'd come, so why pull back?

i was only nervous for her, for the fearful glances she would send when i left her side for seconds. the possessive grip in her fingers when others surrounded us. i would never think to blame her.

and i would never think to hurt her like that.

so in relative hope, i spoke of my plan, lightly so as to calm the anxiety just beneath her eyes. the nervous twitch in her fingers returned, but she'd smiled away.

"i'll go with you, Victor. ."
