i wish i could see the world through her eyes.

for my vision is glazed, partaken by the icy wind i lived in, and grew up with. the weight of heavy snow and cascading hearts i'd lived in before her.

but i know that even in the storms of thick snow, i'm warm with her. as had been proven in the time after we arrived at my hometown, clad in three insulated layers and pockets full of meat buns.

just as shortly followed, our conception was faintly lived, crushed by the blaze of pen strokes and the found infertility we'd never expected. then the incident i'd returned to skating, three months in with records in the waiting when the same ice as yuri's brought misfortune and a sprained knees. bills piled up like snowmen in our broken front porch the pressure of her hand on mine.

i remember breaking, overwhelmed by the sheer disaster i'd caused. as if somehow i'd made the money run short, my feet to slip, and our unborn child to suffocate. but she was there, wrapping her arms around my neck and whispering her sweet words in my ear, dragging away the cold in favor of her merciful warmth.

i wish i knew what she were thinking, when she brought me back to life. once, and again, until i was skating again and our new home was paid for.

i wish i knew why she believed in me, when i'd given her every right to leave.

when, even sometimes still, after more than three years have passed, i can hear her sobs before the sun has risen, her shaking hands clutching where her broken heart lay, the sullen words dancing on her bruised lips as tears tracked down her perfect face.

"Victor, please don't leave me."

my dearest, i wish i could see as you.

then maybe i could clear her fears and hold her in my arms without the hesitation in her hands.

believe in me...

you believed in me.

and there's no place i'd rather be. .
