Light engulfed Emiko all at once and she lunged forward gasping in pain. "Emiko?" a voice from the end of the room called out, "What happened between you and Kabuto...?" Emiko sent the Uchiha a grimace as she fell onto her back. "I don't ever want to see that man again" his shoulders fell at the sound of his friend's voice. He'd caused this. It would have been better if she had just gone on hating him instead.
"He shocked me. It's almost like I can still feel it," she spoke numbly. "I won't let him near you Emiko." he stood to his feet and reached for the door, "Forgive me, this was..my fault." he turned back to her, remorse written all over his usual aloof expression.
It was several hours before Emiko was able to leave her room. When she reached the common-area, she found Kisame, Suigetsu, Hidan, and a few others bickering about swords. "Emiko" Suigetsu whipped around, "Hey, how ya feeling?" the other men in the room laughed profusely. Emiko scanned the group, as it was apparent something was a bit off about the bunch. Then her eye caught the bottles of Sake and it all made sense. "I'm alright, thanks" she went to pour a glass of water.
"You know" Kisame chimed in, "You beat Kabuto pretty good, for a-"
"-For a girl?" she finished, taking a sip. "Thanks" she walked out of the kitchen and to the hall. An unusual din of voices erupted from behind the girl and she stopped in her tracks, "Hey Emiko!" Kisame went to follow her. A bottle barreled her way and she caught it in one hand, "Have a beer" She scanned the bottle for a moment, thinking it over.
"Come on, Emiko! I'd need a drink too if someone shocked me!" Suigetsu shouted from the living room, "Fine" she laughed. Cheers were heard in the other room as she followed Kisame back in.
"Ever played Kings Cup?"
~*~
Playing King's cup is known to be a dangerous gamble, especially for any newcomer. And whoever is lucky enough to get the kings cup will probably be the one regretting the entire night. Emiko was the lucky one, pulling the last King from the deck of cards. The group around her hollered, as Deidara shoved the King's cup in her hands...
"Alright, games over!" Kisame yelled, laughing as Emiko finished what was left in the cup. Without another word, the girl had wandered off down the hall. Sighing, Suigetsu went to follow after the girl so she didn't get into any mischief.
"Hey, where do you think you're going?" the swordsman peeked out the door, "relax" Emiko drawled drunkenly, "I'm getting some air."
"There's air inside too, ya know" Suigetsu motioned inside in his most convincing manner.
"I had no idea" she rolled her eyes, laughing. She began to lose her composure more and more as the time went on. Sighing, Suigetsu re- examined his choices, as it was clear now that he was to play the role of the babysitter. "You know..." Emiko trailed, looking out to the stars, "I'm really the one that brought you into this mess" Suigetsu raised a brow, "You're right, I'm not a babysitter"
"Hey!" Emiko laughed, "Shut your mouth, I'm trying to..." she staggered to her feet, "I'm trying to say something!" she pointed at him, trying her best to look fierce. "Maybe you should calm down" Suigetsu laughed, leaning against the back of the door, "You're really starting to scare me here." Emiko shot him a look and he stopped, "Alright! What are you trying to say?"
"I was the one that tracked you down for Orochimaru...I'm sorry." silence engulfed the two, as Suigetsu seemed to dissociate for a moment.
"Did you willingly?" he murmured. "Not exactly...I wasn't in the position not to" she looked up at him through guilt filled eyes.
"Well" Suigetsu stepped off the porch to ruffle her hair, "Stop apologizing. Now come inside before you get cold." Emiko stopped for a moment, looking at the ground and then back at Hozuki. "Come on" He snatched her arm, "You're too in your thoughts right now"
"Where are we going?" Emiko asked, slowing down a bit. "to get you another drink"
"Another drink, ay?" Hidan met them in the hallway, "Take mine pretty lady" he threw her a bottle. "Isn't that a bit strong for her?" Suigetsu took the bottle and then eyed the older man. "I can handle it" Emiko snatched it back. "She's a big girl" Hidan added, chuckling his way further down the hallway.
Suigetsu rolled his eyes, "I can't stand that guy" Emiko popped open the bottle, "me either..." The two reached the end up the hallway only to find Sasori and Deidara yelling passionately about art. "Hey Deidara, If art's such an explosion why don't you show him by blowing up one of his dolls?" Suigetsu joked, strolling into the kitchen. "Very funny Hozuki" Sasori spat. "Catch!" Suigetsu threw a glass Emiko's way.
"Everyone's been throwing things at you all night, haven't they Emiko?" Deidara laughed. "It's growing on me" she set the glass down, pouring her drink. Without any warning, she threw Suigetsu the bottle and he'd just barely caught it before it'd hit him straight in the face, "Hey!" he yelled, slamming the drink down. "You sure you're a ninja Hozuki?" Sasori commented.
"Hey!" he crossed his arms, "At least I wasn't killed by two women" Deidara burst into laughter, along Emiko.
"-What's going on in here?" Karin joined the group, along Juugo. "Hey!" Emiko came up to the two to hug Juugo. Karin cringed at the scene, "have you been drinking?!" Emiko flashed Suigetsu and the other's a look, and in turn, the entire group ended up in fits of laughter-minus Karin.
"Did you get her drunk, idiot?!" the redhead yelled at the swordsmen."Calm down, Karin." Emiko defended him, "Maybe...you need a drink" Karin rolled her eyes, pushing her glasses to the bridge of her nose, "I don't need anything" she hissed.
"I've never meant a woman so angry" Emiko commented, drained. "That's what I'm saying!" Suigetsu agreed. "It's strange Sasuke tracked you down last" Juugo joined the conversation. "Weren't you childhood friends?" Emiko's smile faded, and her shoulders began to slump. "Yeah" she nodded, "We were"
"But The Leaf were after both of us. I think he knew it wasn't wise for us to be working together at the time." she took a gulp of her drink and stood to her feet. "I'll be back in a bit" she stumbled, nearly falling forward if Deidara hadn't caught her, "Thanks"
Emiko stumbled into her room drunkenly, immediately diving for her bed. With a shaky sigh, she rolled onto her back and the lights flickered on. Caught off guard, the girl nearly jumped two feet in the air. A deep chuckle was heard and she looked over to find that its source was Sasuke. "You think you're funny Uchiha?" she slurred, shooting him the most unconvincing glare, as it soon turned into a grin.
"Woah" her grin disappeared,"Everythings spinning" With a long sigh, Sasuke eyed her suspiciously. "Whaat?" She asked innocently. "I think you know" he replied, "Lay down and stay there. I'm getting you some water."
As soon as Sasuke reached the kitchen, the entire group of men quieted down. "I'm not even going to ask who she got the alcohol from" he grumbled with a blank stare. The group howled in laughter. He continued getting a glass of water, rolling his eyes as they continued acting like drunken fools.
"Emiko?" Sasuke stepped in the room to see that she had already fallen asleep. Taking a breath in, he traced her features with his eyes; setting the glass of water down. Suddenly, she jumped out at him, knocking the Uchiha off his feet. "Ha!" She shouted in victory.
"Go to sleep"
