Obedience

Obedience.

The one and only key to Emiko's parent's affection.

Work

Work

Work

Was all the girl knew, starting all the way from birth.

"You will be the strongest"

Her parents would tell her. And that instruction for Emiko was seen as a necessity in their eyes... An expectation.

"You can always improve"

Though the statement from her father was true, in Emiko's mind it meant she needed to work harder. She wouldn't show how much it hurt, but instead, she obeyed every rule they had to offer. As long as it made her parents happy, she was happy, even if it meant extreme measures. She didn't want conflict to destroy what minimal affection she received from her parents.

What puzzled most about her relationship between Emiko and her parents was that she loved them unconditionally, even though her love was often one-sided.

"What are you doing, looser?" Sasuke laughed at Emiko, who was currently seated silently. Not a muscle moved on her body as she sat criss cross.

"I'm meditating. If you do it each time before you train you might finally to be able to hit that target over there."Sasuke rolled his eyes and challenged her,"Let's see you hit it"Emiko laughed to herself, and chirped,

"Alright"

Reaching behind her back, she grabbed a kunai and thrust the weapon straight into the air where it hit the target precisely in the center. The Uchiha rolled his eyes once more as she opened her eyes and stood to her feet.

He was the strongest Genin until Emiko arrived. It's not like he would admit the fact that he cared, but in reality, it seemed to annoy the boy more than he let on. She was so blatantly nonchalant about her skills, it was frustrating to him.

Regardless, the two of them were close friends who lived right next door to each other. They'd known each other the minute they were able to form full sentences to each other.

"Showoff" He gave her a slight shove, and she laughed. But then, her giddy laughter had turned silent and her eyes dull, as she looked over to see her Mother's cold eyes watching her from the window.

This meant she had to train, and quick; before she would send her father out to make her. Sasuke seemed to catch on and sent her a look of sympathy.

Emiko sent him a brief look of dismay, before dropping to the floor,"I'm leaving tomorrow." she huffed, beginning her training with push-ups.

'100 a day' her father had instructed the Seven-year-old. She was to train for five consecutive hours if she were to stop. Her minimum training hours were three IF she did everything perfectly.

She was used to it, just as one is used to brushing their teeth every night. Sasuke however, could never deem himself "used" to watching his friend train to the point of complete exhaustion.

"Why do you listen to them?" He asked.

"To make them happy"

And that was the last few words he had heard from her before Orochimaru had ruined her way of life completely.

Author's note: This story gets very emotional so just a warning because this is a fanfiction based mostly on Gaara and he tends to have a very introspective personality in my opinion. (Sasuke may be a love interest of this OC as well,) Anywho I hope you readers enjoy, and if possible try to listen to the music I put on while reading because that makes the read 10x better in my opinion :)

And to fans of any other stories I've written: I apologize for the long absence and sloooow updatesI hate to say it but I've had an extreme case of writer's block and what really helps me-oddly enough- is writing another story meanwhile. Just know that if you're waiting on updates from Dark Passion or Blue Ocean floor, that they will come eventually. Writing for you and just writing itself means the world to me. And what can I say, sometimes life happens and prevents me from being able to do so. So I do hope you guys understand.
