-2 days Later-

Today was the day that I got to take Mason home, and I was beyond happy. I’d spent every minute of the last two days getting used to taking care of him, and it turns out my maternal instincts kicked in almost immediately. Craig was already helping out a lot; he didn’t even bat an eye to changing diapers or feeding him the way most guys would. Mason in our eyes was perfect. I was so in love with him, he was the best baby in the world. Craig would laugh at me because every time he started crying I would frown, because I didn’t like it. It broke my heart to hear him cry but I knew that that was what babies did.

It took me the whole day yesterday to get used to walking again because I was sore as hell. It was hard to make myself do it but I had too.

“Hey, Did Monte come back with the car seat yet?” I asked Craig, walking over to the hospital’s version of a crib which to me just looked like a clear square bucket, which held my son.

“I think he’s on his way back now, which outfit do you want from the diaper bag you brought like ten.” Craig said sitting the diaper bag on the hospital bed.

“Hi baby…” I whispered to Mason picking him up and placing him in the cradle of my arms and kissing him on his tiny lips. “I want the one that has the dinosaurs on it, the one with the footsies.” I said sitting down on the bed, laying Mason down in front of me carefully. Craig dug around in the bag for a minute before he pulled out the outfit I wanted, along with a pair of socks, and a onesie.

I un-wrapped the blanket that was around Mason and took off the clothes he already had on. It only took him a minute to get mad with me and start crying. He always got mad when it was time to change his diaper or clothes, and he would start crying until it was over.

“I hate when he does this, it makes me never want to change his clothes or diaper again…” I frowned, as I got a diaper out of the bag and changed it quickly.

Craig chuckled at me, the way he always does when I get upset over Mason crying. I pulled the onesie over his head and buttoned it, slipping the socks onto his tiny feet and pulling the outfit on, buttoning the buttons up the front.

As soon as I was done changing him I picked him up in my arms and his crying ceased almost immediately. I heard Craig laugh at this, and I smiled up at him. The door opened a few seconds later and Monte walked in carrying the car seat in his hands.

“Here you go mom.”He smiled, Robert and Monte had taken to calling me ‘mom’ since Mason was born and I found it weird at first but I was a little used to it now so I didn’t say anything about it anymore.

“Thanks Monte.” I replied as he sat the seat down on the bed.

“Are you guys cleared to leave already?” Monte asked us.

“I think the nurse is coming back with some last minute papers for us to sign and then we’re good to go.” Craig said putting some things into the diaper bag.

“Oh okay.” Monte nodded.

“How cold is it outside?” I asked.

“It’s a little chilly, but it’s not freezing.” Monte said and I nodded.

“Hey babe, will you toss me one of his hats and a blanket?” I asked Craig as I sat Mason in the car seat and buckling him in. It only took Craig a second to find what I asked for and bring it over to me. He kissed my shoulder and then went back to packing things into the bag.

I slid the hat onto Mason’s head and laid the blanket over him.

“Have you like turned into a different person or something?” Monte asked and I turned my gaze to him.
