CHAPTER 4

VIOLET P.O.V

Today me and Daniel decided we would go over to the old house. Jai had decided he would come along with us since he had nothing to do today. I put the finishing touches on my make up and we all got into Jai’s car and drove over to the house. When we got there, there was a man at the front porch who seemed to be knocking on the door. We all got out of the car. Jai walked in front of Daniel who walked in front of me holding my hand.

“Can I help you?” Jai said. When the man turned around he looked exactly like me and my brothers. My eyes went wide in fear. He had Beau’s green eyes. He had brown hair to match that was cut short.

“Is your mom home?” He said.

“No.” Jai answered. “Who are you?” Jai asked.

“I’m Chris.” He said. “Your father.” My eyes went wide again. This was the man who let my mom because of me. He was the reason my mother was a drug addict along with an alcoholic. This was the man who didn’t want me because I wasn’t a boy.

“What do you want?” I asked.

“Violet.” He said. I hide further behind Daniel. “You became a beautiful young lady.” He said.

“You left us.” I said. “Because I wasn’t a boy.” I continued to talk. “What do you want? Money for drugs? Booze?” I was getting angry. He was the reason my mother hated me, why we put her in the hospital.

“Where’s your mother?” He barked at me and Jai.

“You don’t need to know.” Daniel said.

“I don’t remember having four boys! Did I ask you?!” He yelled.

“You aren’t allowed to talk to my girlfriend like that!” Daniel said.

“I remember you. Grew up with my boys. And now you’re dating my daughter?” He laughed like he in charge of me. “You can’t date her.”

“She was never yours.” Daniel answered. “I protected her when you didn’t.” I saw hurt flash over my fathers eyes. Should I call him my father? Chris stood still trying to figure out what to say.

“Where’s your mother?!” He yelled again.

“She’s gone! She gave up on you!” Jai said. I texted Beau and Luke who were still asleep but would hopefully wake up to the text.

“Where did she go!”

“She’s gonna be in heaven real soon due to your retard ass.” He said. We had all been waiting for the day that my mother drank through her liver and didn’t survive any longer.

“She didn’t want you either Violet. We should hae just given you up. You’re going no where.” I wasn’t sure what to say. I had never met this man in my life. The man who my mother loved. The man who help give me life. I could feel tears stinging in my eyes. I could feel myself slipping into that depression. The boys had done everything they could to get me out of that, and I was put right back there.

*JAI P.O.V*

I wanted to punch that man standing in front of me for hurting Violet. She had been through enough with being abused and putting our mother in the hospital. She didn’t need this either.

“You should leave.” I said to him.

“I’ll leave. But I’ll be back.” He said. I feared for Violets life. I feared that she would take her own life. I have done everything in my power to keep her alive. Before we could drive, I would run home from the bus stop everyday to make sure she didn’t hurt herself. There were some days when I was too late and she had cut herself there were other days when she wouldn’t eat.

“I’ll be waiting.” I said before we got back in the car and drove home. Luke, Beau and Hayden were still asleep. Violet and Daniel went into her room. She was probably scared and upset about what happened. I wasn’t going to question it. I went to wake Luke up. “Its dad.” I said. After my dad had left he would pick me and my brother up a couple times a week to just hang out. After about a year, he left completely. We were about to plan a funeral for him.

“What?” He rolled over and said in a groggy voice.

“Dad was at the house. He said pretty horrible things about Violet.” I said.

“Fuck.” He got out of bed and threw some clothes on. He dragged me back over to the house where Chris was still sitting on the porch. “What the fuck do you want?!” Luke yelled at him walking up the walk way.

“I want you to leave me alone.” Chris yelled.

“Who do you think you are?! You don’t tell a 16 year old girl that’s she nothing!” Luke yelled. He was getting very close to Chris and I knew he was going to punch him. Luke lunged at his face and punched him. Chris punched back and before I knew it the cops were pulling up and there was two bloody people getting shoved into police cars.

‘Jai? Where did you go?’ Violet asked as she answered the phone.

‘Brought Luke to see dad. Listen, I gotta go bail Luke out of jail. I need to borrow some money. I’m outside waiting.’ I jumped up and grabbed my wallet, shoes and phone and headed out the door and got into the car. “Thanks.” He quickly drove down to the police station and we had to bail Luke out.

“You guys aren’t gonna bail me out?” Chris said. We all just walked away. Luke had blood coming out of his nose and mouth and his eye was turning blue. Violet was wiping his face off with tissues that we had in the car. When we got home she helped me up the stairs and into the apartment where she laid him on the couch and put ice on his face.

“What happened?” Hayden came out and saw Luke laying on the couch looking dead.

“Our father.” I answered before I left the room along with Violet and we both went to talk to Daniel.

*VIOLET P.O.V*

“I can’t believe he said I was beautiful and then said I was basically nothing and a fuck up.” I said looking at Daniel. Jai was sitting with us in my room. 

“I know. You know its not true right?” Jai said.

“I know but it still hurts.” I answered. “I don’t want to go back to that place.” I said looking at him with a new set of tears in my eyes. “And when is Hayden going home? I hear them having sex all the time.”

“I know. Me too. Me and Luke wanted to share a room and then he has his girlfriend over everyday and they have sex.” Jai said. I laughed. 

“Make sure he has condoms. We didn’t need another one of them.” I said laughing and going into the kitchen. 

“What are you laughing about?” Hayden asked.

“Nothing. Don’t worry about it.” I looked at Luke who was asleep. His eye had turned black and it was swollen shut. He had a fat lip and his nose could be broken. I walked back into my room where Daniel and Jai were talking.

“Okay being serious right now.” I said. “Is Larry real?” I looked at them both. We were all big One Direction fans and we all believed in Larry.

“Yes!” Daniel yelled. “How could they not be?!” He jumped up on the bed. He bounced up and down with me sitting on it. He sat right next to me and kissed me.

“I need a girlfriend.”Jai said getting up and leaving the room.

“Violet.” Daniel said.

“Mmm.” I said.

“Will you go out on a date with me?” I smiled as he held a rose out to me.

“Of course I will.” I smiled again and kissed him as he handed me the rose.
