RECAP OF CHAPTER 2:
After finding a community lying in the city, Javier was forced to go look for the missing survivors. He found one of the missing leaders, he was reminded of the harsh mentality the community. After returning to the community, he met face to face with Connor.(If you shot Lonnie:)
Connor's face expressed an excessive amount of anger as he stepped forward and punched Javier in the face. Javier fell to the floor as Clyde yelled "What the hell are you doing, Connor?!"
His question fell on deaf ears as Connor continued to beat Javier on the floor.
"This motherfucker shot Lonnie! He should be sitting in that car back there dead! Not standing here breathing. Lonnie didn't do a damn thing to him." Connor yelled.
Clyde had a questionable expression on his face as he let Connor beat Javier.
"This won't bring Lonnie back. On top of that, this guy found Dave. He knows where he is and he could help us." Clyde said.
"Oh, so now he finds your useless fuckin' brother and all his sins are forgiven?" Connor replied.(If you lowered the gun:)
"This shithead? He doesn't belong here." Connor said.
"Why not? He can help us find Dave." Clyde added.
"Oh so? You're stupid brother leaves and now you're ready to let any moron in our walls for it?" Connor replied.Clyde shook his head in disgust as he left the room. Javier went to follow Clyde, but Connor stopped him.
"Let's get one thing straight, I don't trust you. So don't pull any shit. I'm the one runnin' this so you better listen or shit will get bad for you real fast." Connor said. Javier nodded and left the room. Javier jumped down the steps and ran after the upset Clyde.
"That asshole has got some nerve saying the shit he says about my brother," Clyde said, "You gotta help me find him. Please. I'll go set up a group to come with us. Until then, you should find whatever you came here for in the first place."
"My family, you're probably the best lead I have for them if they came through here." Javier said, showing Clyde, Kate's locket that had a picture of Gabe, Mariana and Kate.
Clyde looked up at Javi, "I'm just gonna say this now. They probably aren't here, but if they were, I haven't seen them."
Javier followed Clyde until they gathered up a decent sized group.Connor pushed open the doors to go outside near the gate. He spotted a group of people and walked near Clyde.
"The hell are you doin?" Connor demanded an answer.
"Going to get Dave back," Clyde sternly replied, " You can stay back or come, it doesn't matter to me."
"You are all staying back. Nobody's leaving. You have no permission to be creating a witch-hunt for a lost cause." Connor replied.
Clyde looked at Connor with peircing eyes. "What the fuck are you gonna do, report me? This place is falling apart. Without Dave, we have lost about eight people in the amount of 24 hours."
Connor shook his head and stood silently. After a few moments, Connor looked at Clyde.
"When we find him, I'm making sure he knows how shitty it was for him leaving Mathis." Connor announced.
"Whatever." Clyde snarled.
The group had Clyde open the gate, as they stepped out into the dusk to venture towards Dave.Javier guided the people towards the trailer, implying to them that Dave was inside.
"This is the place, eh?" Connor questioned.
"Yeah," Javier replied, "He's in there."
Connor raised his eyebrows.
"Well this sounds like horseshit. What if he brought us all here just to jump us, or what if we go in there and he ends up killing us." Connor shouted.
"Why the hell would I do that?" Javier yelled.
"You did it before. The whole car accident happened because of your shit-storm of a plan." Connor commented.
"Let's just get in there, dammit! There's more of us than him. We could easily stop anything he has up his sleeve." Clyde announced.
Connor turned and looked at Javi. "Not taking any fuckin' chances. I told you, I don't trust you." Connor said as he grabbed some zip ties from his pocket, along with duct tape. He walked over to Javi. "Hold out your hands." He demanded.
"This ain't necessary, Connor." Clyde argued.
"Our lives are necessary. I ain't taking risks." Connor yelled.
Connor grabbed Javi's hands and quickly binded them. He pointed his gun and aimed it at Javi.
"Go ahead, lead the way." Connor demanded.
Javier stepped over towards the trailer. Quickly he turned around and looked at the barrel of the gun pointed at his face. He turned back and slowly opened the door. Once it open all the way, Connor quickly pushed him inside while the rest of the group flooded in. They all quickly noticed the blood splattered on the wall, along with disfigured bodies on the ground.
"Son of a bitch! I knew this guy was fucking with us!" Connor yelled as he whacked his pistol against Javi's soft face.
"Stop it! That's not helping." Clyde yelled as he pushed Connor away.
"This asshole went and killed him! Just realized that you've been fucked. He lied to us, he killed our people. Why is he still here?!" Connor yelled.
Quickly, Clyde had his assault rifle aimed at Connor.
"I need him to find Dave. You don't touch him again, or I will fucking shoot you." Clyde announced.
Connor backed up, "You better settle the hell down. You aren't the leader here."
Javier stood up as Clyde quickly snipped his bindings with a knife. They walked over to inspect the bodies.
"Jesus," Clyde said, "Whoever these people were, they sure had their faces smashed in good. Poor bastards."
The crew stood up and asked around to find out what to do next.
"It's getting dark out boys, we need to get back to Mathis." Connor said. Clyde hesitantly agreed. The group walked out the door and into the woods, back towards Mathis.
The trees seemed to hug each other in the howling darkness. Connor got agitated at how slow the group was going.
"Hey, let's get moving. The cold ain't no excuse to slow down, we can barely see shit. These flashlights are on their last legs." Connor announced.
They kept walking as Clyde grew angry at Connor.
"Y'know something Connor," Clyde yelled, "You sure talk a lot of shit. Bark a lot of orders, but when push comes to shove, you can't ever do the hard decisions."
"Oh shut up. I'm the only one doing the hard things. None of you fuckers would be alive if it wasn't for me." Connor replied.
Clyde shook his head in disapproval.
"Where were you when Jackson died then? You were no where to be found. When we did find you, you were fucking around with a kid! You and Lonnie ripped that family apart! For what? For a damn can of soup! That was more important to you than saving Jackson? You're just a peice of shit, walking around acting like you know you're shit, but deep down you're just a sloppy murderer!"
"Shut up! Jackson was not my fault, don't pin that shit on me, asshole." Connor replied.
Their arguing continued until they could see lights in the distance. The group turned towards the lights.
"Is that our people?" Connor asked.
"Nah," The slender man named Jim replied, "you trashed our last vehicle. I can hear the engines."
"Shit, Shit- alright, everybody hide, get the fuck down. Don't shoot and don't attract attention. This could be a gold mine right here!" Connor demanded.
"We ain't stealin' from people no more, Connor!" Clyde yelled.
Quickly, the group jumped into the bushes, between the trees, one even managed to climb into a tree. Quickly, the lights and roaring engines came closer and closer to the group. Eventually, the three vehicles parked in the area where the group was standing. Quickly, many people flooded out the trucks and had their guns aimed. Each one donned a ski mask with a red stripe painted through the middle.
"Search far and wide," the man, assumed to be the leader shouted, in his gravely voice, "They didn't get far. We will find them."
Each of the men looked around, checked the bushes, and behind trees. Quickly, each of the masked assailants either grabbed Connor's men and tied them up, or shot them if they tried to resist. Javier lay down in a hole filled with leaves and snow. He watched as the horror in front of his eyes grew more and more intense. Eventually, everyone in Connor's group were tied up and crouched down in front of the masked murderers, with the exception of Mike, who was standing in the tree's leaves, and Javi. The leader of the masked men slowly walked around and in a taunting like tone began to say, "Oh where are the rest of you? Good hiding, you may think. I THINK NOT."
Quickly, he turned around and shot up inside the tree. He watched as Mike dropped out of the tree and hit the soil below.
"F-fuck! I'm shot! H-help.. please, don't shoot.." he yelled, clearly in pain. The leader of the masked tribe walked over and shot Mike in the head, then he walked over and grabbed Clyde and stood him up, aiming his pistol at his head.
"The rest of you little fuckers better get out here, or it gets worse. I'm not one for second chances, so here's how this will play out; You have to come out now. If you don't, I put a bullet in this guy's head. Doesn't matter if you come out after that, I'll kill you as punishment. You want everything to go smoothly I suggest you come out now."
Javier quickly jumped up with his hands in the air as he was quickly tied up and sat down next to everyone else.
"I'd like to inform you that you are standing on The Grizzly's territory. I'm sure this isn't something you were aware of, but I want to make sure it never happens again. I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen again. I'm going to make sure you remember us," The leader announced, "Go kill that one, no bullets."
A few members of the Grizzly team ran over and grabbed a younger, smaller man. One of the men brandished a long, sharp hunting knife and slit the young man's throat as he screamed for help. Javier watched as the blood pumped from his throat, out to the wet grass, as his body stumbled backwards and landed on top of the puddle of blood. He quickly died from his injuries. Javier looked forward and noticed how they were positioning Clyde in the center of the group. The leader came back, brandishing a large, heavy, metal pipe. Clyde shook in fear and started to sob as he saw what was going to happen.
"You can't do this! I need to find my brother, please!" He begged.
"You ain't finding anyone, not after this." He whispered.
"Alright, you sorry little shits! Pay attention, because this could easily happen to you!" The man said, throwing the pipe level with everyone's eyes in a threatening way, "Now, I know everyone has got some bullshit excuse they wanna give me, it happens everytime! I just want all of you to know, no matter what happens, if you ever fuck with me, accident or not, this will be your outcome."
He turned towards Clyde, who was begging for his life.
"If I were you, just close you're eyes. It makes everything a lot less messier on your end. I'll try to make it fast." He said.
"No! No," Clyde started screaming while his sons broke through his voice, "Please don't! I'm sorry! I'm-"
He was quickly cut off as the pipe hit him right in the cheek, knocking him to the side in surprise. Quickly, the man hit him again, and again. The leader quickly overpowered Clyde as Clyde struggled to fight back. He grabbed the pipe and hit it back into the leader's face and punched the leader. He tried popping his eyes with his fingers, but also found himself fighting against the pipe. Before Clyde knew it, he accidentally ripped the mask off of the man's face and was thrown to the ground. Everyone from Connor, to Javi dropped their jaws in awe.
"Oh my god." Javier said.(Intervene)
