…
“Yeah I am leaving the house now.” I tell Julia on the phone while quietly closing the front door of my house.
“Okay, I am about to pull up into your driveway.” She said through the phone
“Alright.”
I quietly lock the door behind me and wait on my front porch for Julia to pull up.
I was kind of disappointed that Nick wasn’t coming to the party, but lately I find myself craving more cocaine… and weed.
I see Julia pull into the driveway and I hang up the phone and walk towards the car.
“You ready?” She asks
“Yeah” I said smiling.
She pulled out of the driveway and pulled out of my neighborhood.
“So who’s going to be there?” I said even though I probably won’t know half the people she will list.
“Katie, Emily, Brian, Ryan, Jessica, McKenzie of course, um… Alexis, Heather…” She continued listing a bunch of names.
My phone vibrated and I click the power button to read a text from Nick.
“Are you still going to the party? We should meet up instead!”
I wanted to say okay but I didn’t want to tell Julia to turn around. I wanted to see Nick because we haven’t talked in person since I was at my dad’s house but at the same time I wanted to go to the party.
“Why can’t you come to the party?” I text back waiting for his response
“Because I want to talk to you, and we can’t talk at parties… we discussed why.”
I hated how we can’t talk around people, it gets quite annoying.
“I am already in the car with Julia… maybe tomorrow?” I text back
“Ok.”
He’s mad, I can feel it but it will be embarrassing to tell Julia to turn around now.
I lock my phone and we finally get to McKenzie’s house.
It’s huge, I noticed that everyone that throws parties have the biggest and nicest houses.
I feel my stomach drop, I’m always nervous going to parties because I have only been to two so I am still adjusting to the fact that I am going to these.
“Alex!” I hear McKenzie yell as she runs up and hugs me tight. She kisses my cheek and then looks at Julia.
“Brian still isn’t here, is he coming?” She says to Julia.
“I think so, he isn’t replying to text messages.” Julia responds
“Alex! We haven’t talked since Brian’s party! We should text!”
She gives me her number and I smile politely and say thanks.
“Is Emily here?” I ask
“Yeah, she’s drinking the chocolate vodka my dad bought for us.”
“Your dad lets you have the party?”
“Only when my mom’s away, he says he would rather me drink in the house.”
I didn’t know some parents were so lenient.
I like McKenzie’s party music better then the loud techno music that was playing at the other two parties.
