I walked home and ran into my mom’s bedroom to get my phone and check my messages.
I looked at all Julia’s missed calls and read at least fifteen texts telling me to call her. I then noticed a missed call from Nick. There’s was no text messages, just that one missed call.
I start to tear up thinking about Nick. What if he is hurt? What if he dies?
My head starts to fill up with thoughts of the party. Why did I even kiss Logan? Why do I such stupid things? I asked myself at least fifty questions. I didn’t have a car and nobody was home and all I wanted to do was see Nick and make sure he was okay.
The party was Friday… it’s been three days. He has to be okay… he would have been dead right now if he wasn’t.
I text Julia to get to my house. I needed her to skip school with me, I needed her to take me to the hospital and I needed to see Nick.
Julia texts back saying that she’s on her way.
My heart aches and my head hurts. My throat starts to clog with tears that are wanting to come out but I hold them back in. He’s okay I tell myself. I keep telling myself he’s okay until I am convinced he really is.
I hear her car honk in the drive way and run quickly to Julia’s car.
“Can we please go see Nick?” I ask
“I don’t know if we can.”
“I am sure they’ll let us in.”
“I am not sure of that.”
“Well let’s at least try. Please Julia.” I beg.
My tears escape, I can no longer hold them in. She can see the hurt in my eyes and then answers by nodding.
“Let’s go see that idiot” She teases
I let out a fake smile then hug her tightly.
The car ride towards the hospital took around thirty minutes. Thirty minutes of not saying a word, the only sound that was in the car was the sound of the radio.
We walk up to the desk and there stood this blonde haired lady with dark brown eyes.
“How may I help you guys?” she asks
“We’re here to see Nick Pearson.” Julia says calmly.
“Alright one minute.” The lady says smiling. She picks up the office phone and waits for the other line to answer.
“Hello yes, Nick has visitors” She says into the phone.
“Um excuse me what are your names?”
“Julia and Alex.” Julia answers for me.
She repeats the names into the phone and then says alright and hangs up.
She tells us the room number and gives basic instructions on how to get there.
We go into the elevator and go up to the floor he is on. The door was wide open and I could see Nick sleeping. His face was filled with stiches, his arm was wrapped up. He looked awful, I panic and want to start crying but notice his dad staring at me.
“Hello Alex! And you’re Julia right?” His mom said giving a small smile.
“Yes, is Nick alright?” Julia asked
“Nick is… I don’t know.” Her voice cracks and her smile fades away
“Nick should be okay, he just fractured his skull and spine but he is okay. He just had some other minor injuries like breaking his arm and the cuts on his face.” His dad said calmly almost like it wasn’t a big deal.
