My legs started to hurt as I rode my bike faster and faster to the corner store.
It was getting dark and my legs were becoming stiffer.
I finally reached the store and walked in, rubbing the back of calfs as I walked in. The bell rang as I entered.
"Hello Jessie." Cherry, the cashier at the register said. She's always here thats why she knows me.
"Hi. Ya'll got lemonade?" I asked.
"Yeah Im sure we must." She walked from behind the register and walked infront of me toward the back of the store.
"Here sugar." She handed me the small aluminum cylinder of the powder.
"Thank you." I said, relieved.
"How much?" I asked.
"Eh, don't worry about it babe." She said sweetly. I smiled and hugged her tightly. Cherry has become the only mother figure in my life. After my mother died, I looked to Cherry.
I waved to her and exited the store. I walked toward my bike only to see a group of boys hanging around it. One was even on the seat.
"Excuse me." I coughed as I said it. The boy on my bike stopped talking abruptly and turned to me. His eyes were a mix of brown and green. His hair was messy and a dark brownish black. He was beautiful.
"Yeah?" He said. His voice was deep.
"You're on my bike." I said rudely.
He turned and looked to his friends, laughing.
"What is so funny? I need to get home so could you please get off?" I crossed my arms, still holding the cylinder of lemonade.
"No." He smiled widely and I rolled my eyes.
"Fine then." I huffed. I started walking to my house, frustrated.
Who the hell does that boy think he is?
