My Only Exception

Bonding time

I was just returning from the coffee date with Dan. He was such a gentleman and we had a great time. I pulled into my driveway, got out of the car and grabbed the donut I bought. I opened the door and saw the most unexpecting thing ever. I dropped the donut.

Why is she here? What does she want? Those questions were running through my mind. I hate her with all my guts and I think I made it pretty clear the last time I saw her. She is such a bitch and now she's standing INSIDE my house with a huge grin plastered on her face as if nothing was wrong.

"Hi sweetie." she said.

"Hello." I said icily.

"Oh honey, you haven't changed one bit!" ahe exclaimed, while pulling me in for a bone-crushing hug.

"I see you have." I told her, and it was true, she seemed nicer. Her act was probably getting better. "Why are you even here?" I asked, as an after-thought.

"I came to see my favourite niece, of course."

"You mean, your only niece."

"Don't be so sour. I've come to take you away for a week. We're going to have some bonding time. We'll be going to my lakehouse for a week so go pack your things and say goodbye to you friends." she commanded in her annoying, snooty voice.

"In case you forgot, I have SCHOOL." And I hate you, I added in my mind.

"Oh, already taken care of. I spoke to Annie and she said ok."

Auntie Annie would never say yes to her! She probaly blackmailed her or threatened her.

Finally, the she-devil left. I forgot what I was about to do so I decided to go over to Nate's. I walked in and looked around for him. I called his name out but I got no answer, but then I figured out why- he was blasting music from his room. I walked up to the room and opened the door.

"Hey N-"

I halted. The first thing I did was look down, second thing I did was widen my eyes then I realised what I had caught him doing so I burst out laughing. He was dancing to music, naked. Who does that?

"Kat!" he said.

"Hey Nate. I've gotta talk to you."

''Ok, I'm just gonna get changed."

"Sure." I said, walking into the room.

He pulled on his clothes. I was still thinking about him naked. I'm such a perv!

"Fantasizing about me?" Nate asked.

"Oh, you know it." I replied. 

He sat on the bed. "What did you want to tell me?"

"My aunt is back! The aunt whose name I took!"

"Oh. Is that bad or good?" he asked.

"Bad! She's really mean." I said, tearing up when I remembered our relationship when I was smaller.

Nate pulled me into his arms, not asking any questions. His hugs were so comforting. I sat in his arms for about ten minutes.

"So, do you think I should go?" I asked Nate.

"Maybe you should. Maybe she has really changed."

With that being said, I did it. I took a chance. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? She wouldn't kill me, I hope.

So, we were on our way to the lakehouse. The drive was silent. She tried to talk to me but I didn't reply.

When we arrived, I practically jumped put of the car.

I took my suitcases and went into the huge cabin. It was quite lovely. My aunt shares the lake and the land with another family. I secretly hoped that they weren't here too, even though they were constantly here. The son, Aidan, was really annoying and a total nerd. His smartness killed me. He had glasses (the nerd kind) and braces (the bad kind). Poor boy. He did have awesome eyes though.

After I packed my stuff, I got bored so I decided to go to the lake for a swim. I put on a purple bikini, even though the lake was probably cold. The sun was shining- scorching hot!- so hopefully, the lake wouldn't be cold. I wrapped a towel around me after I changed and walked to the lake. I took the towel off and jumped in the lake. It wasn't cold. I swam around for a minute but then I heard a noise. I looked up. At first I didn't recognize the hottie standin there but then I saw those eyes.

"Aidan?" I asked.

Aidan's P.O.V

I had to see it for myself. When her aunt came over and told me that Kat was here, I thought she was lying but here she is, swimming without a care in the world. She was my best friend, even though she doesn't remember. We used to do everything together but then something had changed and she suddenly found me annoying and always used to run away from me. I love her so much. I never told her though. It would just scare her away. 

"Aidan?" she asked.

Shit shit shit! She saw me! I probably look like some weird stalker.

I walked up to her while she got out of the water. 

"Kat? Hey! Long time no see, right?"

KAT'S P.O.V

"Kat? Hey! Long time no see, right?"

Yeah, I thought, And the years have obviously been good to you.

"Yeah, you look different. Really different."

"Yeah, I took off the braces and I started wearing contacts. So, how have you been? How long has it been?"

"About seven years. Wow! That's a long time!"

"Well, I guess we have a lot of catching up to do!" he said.

"Ok. Lemme go change!"

I ran and got changed. 

After I got changed, we went to his 'house'. 

"My parents aren't here. It's just me because I wanted to just get away." he said, with a sad smile on his face.

I was sitting there talking about my latest accomplishments when my phone started buzzing. I looked at it and it read 'Nate'. I made a small "Yay!" and excused myself.

"Hey. You know it's only been about five hours, right?" I asked him, with a huge grin on my face.

"I know, but I missed you so much."

"Aww."
