My Only Exception

The Truth Comes Out

"He's your what?!?" I asked in astonishment.

"He's kind of sort of my brother. Well, half brother, anyway." Nate said.

"How is that possible?"

"Well, it's a long story."

"Can I hear it?" I asked. "I'm sorry, am I being too pushy?"

"No that's okay. I'll tell you." he said. 

STORY TIME:

"So a few days after my mom and dad did the dirty, I can't believe I just said that! Anyway, after that, they got into a huge argument and they broke up. Then my dad went to Las Vegas, had a one night stand and the woman became pregnant and told my dad to never come near her or her child ever in their lifetime. Then she met this dude, they got married and raised the child together while my parents got back together and my mother forgave my dad, though I still think she holds a grudge."

END OF STORYTIME

For once in my life, I was speechless.

Wow. That was a surprise. Really random.

"So, y'all are kinda brothers? So, where's the brotherly love?" I said to lighten the mood.

"Ha ha, funny." he said sarcastically.

"Change of topic?" I asked.

"I would love that."

"Ok. Umm, did you see Miss Daniel's shoes today? It was the BOMB DIGGITY!"

"Please tell me that I just imagined those words coming out of your mouth and you didn't actually just say the bomb diggity."

"What's wrong with that? So, you get to say things like 'Bro, that movie was so rad' but I can't day things like bomb diggity." I said pouting.

"Yes, because people of this century actually say things like that."

"Leave me alone!" I said, poking my tongue at him.

He laughed. "You're so childish but I love you for it." 

I froze.

Did he just say what I thought he just said?

I laughed awkwardly, "Hahaheheha."

I sound like a freaking horse!

"Are you ok?" Nate asked.

"I'm good. I'm fine. I'm so great that I could walk on water."

Maybe I should tone it down a bit...

I'm kinda horrible in situations like these. Thankfully,I don't think he realised that he said 'it'. Those three words.

*Ring ring ring*

I get up and look at my alarm clock and see that it reads 12:11. Who the fuck is ringing my doorbell at 12  in the night? It's not Nate or Jen because they would have barged in.

I got up and looked for a weapon. Just in case. Then I realised that a burglar wouldn't ring the bell. Dumbass...

I still carried a baseball bat just in case.

I opened the door slowly and saw Aidan standing there looking hopeless.

"Aidan, what are you doing here?"

"Well, you gave me your address and said come if I need anything. So here I am." he said with a slight smile.

"Ok, come inside from the cold. What happened?"

"Well, my parents cut off all my money so I couldn't pay the land lord so he kicked me out." he said. "So I was wondering if I could stay here for a while until I get a job or something?" he asked. "I know it's a lot to ask."

"That's fine, Aidan! Stay as long as you want." I said. "Come, lemme show you to the guest room."

He said he'd have to get his stuff from the apartment tomorrow.

When I woke up, Nate was standing right above me, with wide eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked, curiously.

"Why the fuck is Aidan here?" he asked me, nose flaring.

"I'm standing right here." I heard Aidan say then I realised he was standing by the doorway.

"And your point is?" Nate asked.

"Be nice, Nate." I said, scolding him. 

"You didn't answer my question." he said.

"He didn't have a place to stay so I let him stay here."

"Couldn't you just leave him homeless or something?" Nate asked me.

"Nate! Why are you acting like this?"

Thankfully, Aidan had walked off already.

"Because I don't feel comfortable with some dude living with my girlfriend and perving on her!"

"What are you talking about? Aidan is a good friend, he wouldn't perv on me." I said, putiing quotation marks around perv.

"You're so blind, Kat! The dude is always fucking staring at you!"

"I think you see what you wanna see, Nate. Why would you even think Aidan would like me like that. He only likes me as a friend."

"Ok, Kat you believe what you want. I'm gonna go get dressed for school."

Then he walked out.

I got up and started to get ready to leave. I showered then put on my uniform and walked into the kitchen to make breakfast (cereal) but I saw that Aidan had made breakfast for me. It was eggs, and sausages and it smelt so good. Aidan had already left so I grabbed my car keys and went to my car.

I noticed that Nate was already gone. I should probably give him some time to cool down...
