I tried to protest, I really didn't want to carry Nate to the hospital but then I realised how selfish that sounded. Seriously, how low could I go? He's injured, for God's sake! For all I know he could be bleeding internally!
With this realisation, I grabbed Nate's hand and walked us to my car. I believe the nurse was shouting something to us but I couldn't hear her.
"Um, Kat?" he called as we were exiting the school building. "Are you ok? You look a bit sick."
All of a sudden, I felt as if I were in someone else's body. I don't even think I knew what I was doing. I quickly let go of Nate's hand. I took my car keys out because we had reached where my car was parked unlocked the doors and and we got in.
When I pulled up by the gate, the security guard asked me for my pass.
"I don't have one." I told him. " But this guy here," I motioned to Nate,"He may have internal bleeding."
The guard rolled his eyes and replied sarcastically,"And I'm Prince William."
"That's great but I've really got to go now so can you please open the gate?"
"Do you have any proof that he is actually injured?"
Wtf? Nate could be dying and he wants proof? I turned to Nate and lifted up his jersey.
"See?" I told him.
"Okay but go quickly. That looks bad!"
Now he believes me...
I drove away quickly and made my way to the hospital. The hospital was a while away so I had begun to think about Nate and how he had been injured.
"So, how did you manage to get in a fight? And with who?"
"Oh, it's no one you know." he said lowly.
I was approaching a traffic light so I sped up. Amber light. I pressed down on the gas. Red. Great.
"Try me," I reply to Nate.
"W-what?"
"You said I wouldn't know the person. Remember that I've been going to that school longer than you."
I glanced at him from the corner of my eye and he looked as if he was having an internal battle with himself.
"You know that guy, um, what's his name again? Ken, I think is his name."
My mouth fell open in shock and at the same time, the light turned back on green. I drove then asked, "Ken? Are you sure? He doesn't seem like the type to wanna mess up his pretty face. Who started it?"
"Me, ok! God, can you stop with the questions! What are you? The fucking CIA?"
I pulled up to the hospital. "Jeez, sorry. Just asking." I told him quietly.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to yell at you like that."
"It's ok." I said though I didn't really mean it. "Um, are you coming out?"
He looked up and his face became a mask of confusion. "Wait, why are we at the hospital?"
"What? Did you hit your head too? The nurse said to bring you to the hospital so I did."
"Oh well, I don't go to the hospital. I go to a private doctor."
"So you couldn't tell me that before? Did you not think to mention 'Oh hey Kat, by the way, we're not going to the hospital. We're going by my private doctor.' Are you freaking insane or are you just bipolar?"
He looked straight into my eyes and said angrily, "Is that some kind of joke? You know what? Forget it!"
He opened the door and slammed it.
