Chapter 12: Surrender to my Banana Guns! POV- Kara

“...and then there’s Abbie and Jennifer,” I said, pointing to the quiet redhead and curly black-haired tomboy. “And I’m Kara,” I said, pointing to my chest.

Georgia Rose nodded, concentrating. “I think I remember everyone’s name,” she said, scanning the large sofa my friends were sitting on. “And I know you guys!” she beamed, looking at One Direction, who was sitting on the right side of the sofa facing the television. Georgia Rose was very polite, unlike other fans, but she took a TON of pictures with her camera. She was studying to be a photographer, though, so I didn’t really mind.

“Hey,” Liam suddenly spoke up. Georgia Rose turned to face him, smiling. Her favorite member was Liam, no doubt. “Can you hang with us for the weekend? Tomorrow’s Saturday,” Liam asked Georgia Rose, looking at the other band members. They all smiled and nodded their heads. She looked like she just inhaled a cheesecake or something; she was grinning ear-to-ear.

“You bet!”

Liam smiled.

I let a laugh escape my mouth. They looked so cute together. I looked down at my phone, and gasped when I saw the time. “Oh my God! We need to get to bed, NOW! In a week we need to perform in front of the judges for a second round of the competition!” Everyone was staring at me with wide eyes. “Sorry, I want to practice the song I want to sing,” I replied, blushing.

“You’re in a singing competition?!” Liam asked me.

“Yeah, all of us actually. Except Georgia Rose, Niall and I just met her at Nando’s today,” I added.

“You went to Nando’s? With Niall?” Everyone (except Niall and Me) asked simultaneously.

“You didn’t know? I told Madison!” I asked, confused. Niall looked at me. I caught his glance and raised an eyebrow at him. He blushed and looked away, smiling guiltily. What’s going on? I thought. Why didn’t Niall tell anyone?

“You went on a DATE? With NIALL HORAN? And you DIDN’T TELL ME?” Bridget screeched. I winced. I bet people five rooms down could hear her.

Harry raised his eyebrows and wiggled them at me and Niall. “Looks like SOME-body has a daa-ate!” he sang.

“It wasn’t a date!” I exclaimed loudly.

“That’s what she says...” Madison chuckled. I shot her a look, but couldn’t help myself from blushing. I stared at my blue sock-covered feet.

“Shaddup, Harry,” Niall retorted, and retreated into the kitchen.

“The way you smile at the ground, it aint’ hard to tell...” Louis sang, looking at my bowed head and waited for someone to finish his sentence. When no-one did since they were talking to each other, Louis shrugged and opened his mouth to sing the rest, but Abbie interrupted.

“...you don’t kno-o-ow. You don’t know you’re beautiful,” Abbie sang, making all of us turn our heads. Even Sparrow, who was sitting on Harry’s crisscrossed lap, stopped washing her paw to listen. Louis whistled.

“Wow, is that the radio, or what? I’ve never heard ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ sung by a girl before,” Niall commented, leaving the kitchen with a Pepsi in his hand.

“Um, that was me,” Abbie spoke up from her spot next to Louis on the couch.

Niall smiled at her. “The same thing happened with me in the car when I was young. My aunt thought the radio was on, but it was only me, singing,” he said, smiling at the memory. “You have a nice voice,” Niall added, sitting next to me on the floor. “You’ll probably win the whole competition,” he added.

Abbie looked stricken and shocked by the compliment. “Th-thanks, Niall.”

“No problem. What song are you going to sing when you perform?” he asked Abbie, sipping from his soda.

“One by you; Tell Me A Lie,” she said, looking at Louie out of the corner of her eye.

Then, out of the randomness of my brain, I remembered that today was December 13th; not that far away from Christmas.

“Hey!” I shouted, thinking about reminding them about the close holiday. Niall jumped at my outburst, spilling Pepsi on the floor. Niall turned to me and bared his teeth, faking anger.

Sparrow jumped from Harry’s lap to go over to the spilled Pepsi and lick the floor. Harry clucked disapprovingly and scooped Sparrow back onto his lap. “No, Sparrow. The floor is filthy. Don’t lick it,” Harry said, stroking Sparrow’s fuzzy striped head. I cupped Niall’s face in my hands and pinched both cheeks.

“Is somebwody angwy?” I cooed teasingly. Niall growled at me playfully and leaped, tackling me to the floor.

“Surrender to my...my...” Niall looked around. “Wait here,” he said, pointing at me. “Harry, sit on her. I  don’t want her to move!” Niall said, letting go of my shoulders and pushing Harry on top of me.

“Oof!” I felt my lungs empty of air as Harry fell backwards on top of me.

“Oops, sorry love,” Harry said, scotching his butt off of me, but still trapping me on the ground with his calves and feet. I could feel Madison’s gaze burning into me. She’s jealous! I thought.

Just then, Niall burst back into the room. “Surrender to my banana guns!” Niall said, booting Harry off of me and towered above me, grinning. “Do you surrender, Miss Smith?”

“Nope, never!”

“Then you shall face my fury!”

“Your furry what?” Louis piped up. I laughed at the lines from one Ice Age movie. Liam caught on due to his obsession with all children’s movies.

“No, not furry, fury!” I said from under Niall. Liam looked at me.

“How’d you know that?”

I chuckled. “I probably watched every children’s movie in the universe,” I wheezed. I think Harry had messed with my breathing. “I have two little sisters and a baby brother. My mom’s very busy with her job as a vet, but she takes us to see every children’s movies at the town mall back in California,” I added.

Liam grinned. “I wish I had a little brother,” he said.

“You won’t be saying that when you change their diapers!” I laughed.

Liam smiled. “How old are your siblings?”

“Hannah is nine, Lily Ana is seven, and Matthew is three.”

Bridget suddenly rocketed off the floor. “Ooh, Maddie! Tell Louie about your sister,” she said excitedly. Madison shook her head.

“Oh, it’s nothing,” Madison laughed.

“C’mon! Tell me!” Louis said, springing off the couch and sitting down next to Madison who was now next to Harry on the floor. Madison laughed, ruffling Louie’s hair. Louis rested his chin on Madison’s shoulder. “Tell....meee....”

“Alright! Be patient!” Madison said, pushing Louis away playfully. “So remember when you sang part of Valerie at the concert during the campfire songs?” she asked.

Louie nodded. “Yep.”

“Well,” Madison continued. “My thirteen-year-old sister, Valerie, like is in love with you, and she totally flipped out when you sang that.”

“No no no! Tell him the quote!” Bridget said, urging her on.

“Fine!” Madison huffed. “She said, quote-on-quote, ‘Louie is my prince charming in Cinderella and he will come and take me away when I am old enough to date’.”

Louis bursted out laughing. “Oh gwad! That’s so funny!” he laughed. “That’s so cute. Doesn’t she know I have a girlfriend?” he smiled.

Madison shrugged. “Yeah, I guess, since she earned like a 100% on every directioner quiz ever taken,” Madison said.
