Colin woke up to the smell of bacon. His favorite breakfast. He found Connor and Havolynne already sitting, eating. How long have they been up alone? Colin thought. A familiar, yet unfamiliar, feeling began to rise in his chest, but he subdued it. Colin sat and made sure he sat between Havolynne and Connor.
"Here," Havolynne passed him a plate of bacon and eggs. "Alright, now since we are all here and awake," She started, suppressing a laugh, "I should inform you of some other things..."
Uh-oh, Colin thought.
"The Fall Equinox is in a week. Which leaves ME 7 days to teach you guys magic, help you with your Elements, get you prepared to face whatever we encounter, AND get to the Equinox Tree in time to secure the Fall Equinox Sphere."
Colin and Connor exchanged looks.
Havolynne pursed her lips, she never mentioned her "dream" to them. And now they will be curious and worried. GREAT, Havolynne thought.
"You never--" Colin stammered.
"Yes I know," Havolynne said sadly. "When I was unconscience, I had I guess a vision of the Equinox Tree, and the Sphere...and since the figure mentioned the Fall Equinox and me going after THEM, whoever THEY are, I think our best bet is to go to the Equinox Tree and defeat whatever evil lies there." Havolynne shuddered. She didn't tell them the whole truth. About them getting hurt in the process. It killed her to hide from them. It killed her even MORE to put them at risk of being seriously hurt.
"It's a trap, but i'll go anyways. I can't leave you going on a solo quest without backup!" Colin said.
"If Colin goes, I go," Connor said.
Havolynne knew he said that just to keep her promise. Her soul fell low. She was putting them at risk. She couldn't let them get hurt. Not Colin and Connor, who meant so much to her in the couple years of knowing them...
"Furthermore," Havolynne continued, "Since the Equinox tree is a 3 day trip on foot, I say we stay here this last night, then set off, giving us a time cushion in case we encounter any disturbances on the way."
Colin and Connor nodded their heads. They will set off tomorrow.
