Jongin and Chanyeol entered in the hospital, running like their lives depended on it. Naeun had called Jongin twenty minutes ago, crying, and told him that something had happened to Eunji. The second she told him that he felt like his heart was being squished and quickly asked Chanyeol to take him to the nearest hospital.
Both of the boys ran to the waiting room and met Naeun, whom couldn't stop walking up and down biting her nails. As soon as she saw them, she ran to them and hugged Jongin, still crying. He hugged her back and then pulled apart to ask her what had happened to the girl he loved.
She explained, with her voice shaking, how she found her and that Eunji didn't respond at any call, not even from the nurses in the ambulance. The doctors had taken her to a room and hadn't come out yet.
Jongin felt his whole body ache and had to sit or he would be the next one passing out. He brought his hands to his face and covered it as his right leg began shaking nervously.
"I don't know what could have happened to her. She was fine the whole day!" Naeun began crying more.
Chanyeol brought her to his chest and hugged her tight, feeling a knot on his throat as well. Hearing and seeing her like that hurt him, plus Eunji's issue had him very worried.
"Shh," he muttered. "She's going to be okay. The doctors are taking care of her."
She couldn't control her tears and they kept on falling nonstop. She was feeling awful! She was thinking about the most horrible things that could happen to her best friend even though she didn't want to.
They waited for like an hour until a doctor came up to them and called for Eunji's family. The three of them quickly stood up and Jongin told him that he was her boyfriend. The doctor didn't have any other option than telling him -or them- what happened with her health.
"The patient is fine. There's nothing to worry about," the doctor said, making all of them let out big sighs of relief. "The cause of her faint is anemia."
"Anemia?" Jongin asked, frowning.
"Anemia is a condition that develops when the blood lacks. . ." The doctor began saying.
"I know what anemia is," Jongin interrupted him, anxious. "But why does she has anemia?"
"Her anemia is caused by decreased red blood cell production due to a dietary iron deficiency," he explained. Jongin was going to ask something but the doctor kept on talking. "The body normally gets the iron it requires from foods. If a person consumes too little iron, or iron that is poorly absorbed they can become iron deficient over time."
"So she has anemia because she hasn't been eating as and what she should," Chanyeol said.
"Exactly," the doctor nodded.
"Wasn't it easier to say that instead of. . ." Jongin was interrupted by a hit on his arm.
"Your manners," Naeun told him, annoyed by the way he was talking to the doctor. He noticed he was being rude unintentionally.
"I'm sorry," he apologized to the man. "It's just that I'm too worried for her," he said as he passed his hand through his hair
"Don't worry. I have to deal with more than that very often." The doctor smiled.
"What are the treatments?" Naeun asked.
"It is easy to be treated; eating more iron-rich foods, such as beans, lentils or red meat, or taking iron supplements will usually correct the anemia. We already supplemented her iron. But please, make sure she eats correctly or she can get a worse illness." They all nodded.
