Natsu silently watched Lucy play with the little orange feline, he hadn't realised how much he had missed her. Aqua stared at Natsu and saw who he was staring at, "Do you know her?"

Natsu smiled as he thought about the adventures that he had shared with Lucy, "Yen" he muttered while continuing to watch Lucy play. Lucy was laughing and smiling as if she didn't have a care in the world although he knew that wasn't true.

He remembered what the lady had told him when he was in Magnolia, the fairy tail guild suffered from loss and heartache for the past year, theres no way this didnt affect Lucy or his comrades. This was his fault, the reason why they had suffered was because of his screwed-up family. He vowed to get stronger to protect them but was it really worth it? He honestly didn't know if he had the power to destroy his father.

Lucy felt someone watching her from a distance, she looked around and noticed a familiar pink haired salamander that she had lost hope of seeing, her pair of eyes locked onto his, the 2 stared at each other for a solid 5 minutes before she stood up and slowly walked to him.

Natsu, her Natsu was back, she couldn't believe what she was seeing, was it a hallucination or is this the real Natsu? No, this cant be a hallucination because this Natsu has longer hair and wearing a robe to cover up his bandaged arms. This wasn't the Natsu that she had dreamed about, this wasn't the Natsu that she had hoped so badly to come back to fix everything to the point that she started to dream and imagine him most night.

This is pathetic, Lucy thought, This is real, so why the hell am I just sitting around.

Natsu broke out into a smile as he saw his best friend stand up and walk towards him, he lifted his hand to greet Lucy, "Hey Lucy, how are y-" Natsu was interrupted by a sudden pain that he felt on his cheek, Lucy had slapped him right across his face.... his Lucy. Lucy shocked herself when she slapped him, that's one way to greet someone.

"You idiot" Lucy shouted angrily, Natsu had never seen this anger directed to him before normally it was directed to his enemies. She didn't even understand where this sudden anger came from.

"Lucy...Wh-" Natsu began to say as he touched his cheek that was surprisingly stinging, nobody's slap could hurt like Lucy. Lucy's eyes began to blur due to the tears that were forming in her eyes, she couldn't believe that Natsu was back, she didn't realise how angry she was at him.

"Why...WHY ARE YOU HERE?" Lucy screamed at Natsu, Aqua was hiding behind Natsu trying to remain invisible because she had never seen the blonde mage get so riled up before. Aqua had seen Lucy helping around the village from time to time, she always thought of Lucy to be the calm and relaxed one compared to the rest of the fairy tail wizards.

"I... came back" Natsu replied laughing nervously while rubbing his cheek, he knew that Lucy was probably pissed at him but he didn't expect her to slap him across the face like she did. He also didnt know how to answer the question, this was his family, of course he would come back.

Lucy lifted her hand back up in the motion of slapping someone, Natsu instantly moved back afraid of the slap but the impact of the slap never came, Natsu opened his eyes and looked at Lucy whose hands were wiping away the tears.

"You came back" Lucy muttered under her breath, she looked down at the ground wandering why she had slapped Natsu across the face, was it out of hate? NO way, she didn't hate Natsu she could never hate him. Sorry Lucy apologized softly, did she feel bad for slapping him?

Its okay Natsu muttered, he was still shocked, he expected her to run into his arm and say NATSU, OMG YOURE OKAY, IM SO GLAD YOURE OKAY but instead he was welcomed with the infamous Lucy slap.

The 2 remained in an uncomfortable silence, Aqua looked between the 2, Mister, do you still need me to take you to the guild?

Natsu looked over to Lucy who was still staring at her hands, Natsu shook his head, No thanks, go make memories with your brother Natsu encouraged the exceed, Aqua gave him a grateful smile.

Thank you for helping me Mister Aqua said, she then flew off into the distance, further into the village of exceeds. Natsu let out a sigh, he looked at Lucy who was still staring at her hands. Lucy didnt know what to say to him, what if he changed? Was he the same Natsu that left a year ago, or is he different? She felt so guilty for slapping him like that, he didnt deserve it but she couldnt control herself.

Natsu didnt know what to say or do to comfort Lucy, why did he feel like he was standing next to a stranger? Lucy finally found her voice, Ill take you to the guild, she didnt trust herself to say anymore.

Lucy guided Natsu to through the village, they passed several homes and stalls in silence, Lucy didnt look at Natsu once throughout their whole walk, he was hoping shed say something during the walk but not a single word slipped out of her mouth.

Natsu was too deep in thought to realise Lucy had stopped, he slammed right into Lucys back which caused them to fall over, LUCY, Im so sor-. Natsu began to apologise but he couldnt finish off his sentence as he felt another slap across his face.

WHY DO YOU KEEP SLAPPING ME? Natsu shouted, he realised that Lucy was blushing, he then realised their positioned and quickly scrambled off her and away. Im sorry, Im sorry, Im sorry Natsu began repeatedly apologise to her, he was on the ground moving up and down in a praying position.

Lucy was on her knees staring at Natsu with an unreadable expression, Natsu thought she was going to scream out You perverted idiot or something along those lines but instead she started to laugh, Natsu rubbed his head out of confusion, did he miss something?

She suddenly stood up and ran over to her favorite idiot, she hugged him while he was still on the ground. Same old Natsu Lucy muttered, Natsu was shocked by the sudden force, although he hugged her back, Same old Lucy Natsu muttered back, but was she? Was she the same Lucy that he had left a year ago?
