Age 6

"Momma please don't make me go!" Calum begged his mother tears in his eyes.

Joy was still trying to drag the boy to practice where everyday the other jocks would be complete jerks. Calling him names and pushing him around. The boy never even paid attention it was why he never did well. Calum couldn't stand the sport if he was being totally 100% honest. It was awful and he couldn't believe his mother would be so unfair.

"Calum hood, get in that car." Joy yells

Calum scurries to the car absolutely terrified of his mother when she was angry. Once she dropped him off Calum ran, about 1.5 miles to Ashton's house. He didn't think he could stand one more day at that miserable practice so he just decided a day off won't hurt.

He knock on the big wooden door.

"Cal!" Ash yells wrapping his arms around Calum.

"Ashy!" Calum says hugging Ashton tightly.

"Come on, we gotta sneak up, mommas inside and she'll send you back. Come on, up the tree and into the window. Make sure your quiet. Don't fall Cally!" Ashton guides.

"Ok mother." Calum teases Ashton's motherly ways

"I'm not a mum" Ashton pouts.

"Yes you are now stop pouting and lets go!" Calum says.

They both climb the tree with ease slipping into the window that was cracked and just had to be pushed open further.

They went in Ashton immediately shutting and locking his door just in case his mother happened to walk by.

"What time does practice end?" Ashton asks.

"20 minutes." Calum shrugs.

"Ok so in about ten minutes we'll head back to the fields and we'll just say I stayed to watch then I'll ask if you can come stay at mine tonight ok?" Ashton says his little 'game plan' to Calum.

"Thanks Ashy for all of this." Calum kisses Ashton's cheek and he did it a lot. It was just something that they did it was part of the friendship. But it still made Ashton blush. Which is exactly what he did his face turned a bright red color and after ten minutes passed the two boys were walking and talking, headed back to the fields.

Happy birthday to Calum tomorrow and let's just hope he has a good one.
