“... the taste of chocolate is a sensual pleasure in itself, existing in the same world as sex... For myself, I can enjoy the wicked pleasure of chocolate... entirely by myself. Furtiveness makes it better.”
- Dr. Ruth Westheimer
No, not the song, and definitely not a scrumptious, cocoa skinned man! We are talking about edible, delicious, rich, smooth, better than sex chocolate here, people!! But, seriously, Have you ever wondered why it is tradition to give the woman in your life chocolates on Valentine’s Day? Could it have to do with the possibility of it being like all the other potential aphrodisiacs, such as oysters, almonds, pineapples, strawberries, etc. that are rumored to increase sexual desire?
Well, a recent Italian study is saying yes, and that women who regularly each chocolate have the highest sexual desire, arousal and satisfaction, leading to a better sex life than those who don't indulge in their sweet tooth. Eating 2 – 5 ounces of dark chocolate daily also increase libido in woman who suffers from little to none because of premenstrual tension. And though chocolate is a comfort food for many woman, men, on the other hand, find that same comfort in hearty, warm foods, such steak and potatoes. They always said the way to a man's heart (and bed) is through his belly. So now that we know what each sex likes, we know how to lure them in!
Chocolate contains more antioxidants, which are Cancer preventing enzymes, than red wine does, and it has also been discovered that those who eat chocolate live almost one year more than those who do not. The pleasurable food contains also chemicals that are thought to effect neurotransmitters in the brain by the same substance found in caffeine called theobromine. Chocolate contains levels of serotonin, which in high levels stimulates endorphins in the brain and the feelings of happiness, where as low levels of serotonin can result in depression. Antidepressant drugs are made with the same neurotransmitter that helps treat it and fight again constant sadness. Those little pieces of goodness are also crammed packed with a little love chemical called phenylethylamin, which increases attraction, excitement, fearlessness and goofiness, much like the affects of alcohol, but without the drunken debauchery and massive hangover the next morning. Phenylethylamin also helps achieve high levels during orgasm. Another chemical found in chocolate called flavinoids, improve the blood circulation, and assists with preventing heart disease, brain aging and even boosts erections! Bring on the chocolate body syrup!!
Did you know that in the 1600's, the consumption of eating chocolate was prohibited for nuns and monks? Because the “high” of the euphoria it causes, and higher desires for sex, gambling, etc, which, obviously, people of God should not partake in. Also, chocolate was referred to as “nourishment of the Gods” by ancient Aztecs, and they ate it with every meal. We women all know that chocolate is godly in itself, especially when we are experiencing PMS. Chocolate will not give you drama or talk back, just yummy satisfaction -that is, hunger wise and in the bedroom!
If ingesting the chocolate doesn't get the blood flowing, maybe these few little facts will motivate your desire and put your mind in the gutter:
*The average chocolate bar is usually six inches long
*Chocolates stay hard for a week
*Chocolate can last as long as you want it to
*Though it can go soft, it still satisfies
*Chocolates won't complain if you are too rough with their nuts
*You won't wake your neighbors
To get the full effect of chocolate and your sex life, eat chocolate with a high cocoa content. Milk chocolate has added sugar and oils, which decreases the cocoa content. Dark chocolate has the highest cocoa content, which makes it the most effective for improving sexual desire. Increase your chocolate intake before your menstrual cycle. Since PMS can kill your libido, eating dark chocolate once a day for a week before your period helps increase the levels of serotonin in your body. Also, give in to your chocolate cravings shortly before having sex. If you're feeling sluggish, or not in the mood, eating some chocolate will perk you right up. Be sure to keep a stash to snack on regularly for the greatest impact on arousal and improved sexual desire. You can even step it up a notch and bring some chocolate in the bedroom, just make sire you are prepared for the clean-up!
So, whether it is Valentine's Day, a birthday or other holiday, reconsider those flowers or dinner reservations. Remember the gift that will make them moan in pleasure. Chew on that!
