*1 Week Later*
I had filled out the form to attend summer camp about five days ago and mum had sent it off to the camp leader. We were now sitting in my mum’s car out the front of the campsite,
“Jena, please get out of the car,” mum said for the tenth time,
“I already said I will not get out,” I retorted,
“Well then that is the last straw. I guess I will just have to carry you.” My head shot up. Mum, for starters, actually physically cannot carry me. Second, all the kids will make fun of me because she carried me in. I flung the door open and leaped out of the car. I grabbed my bags from the boot and basically sprinted from the car to the campsite. I turned around just in time to see mum pull out of the car park. I waved but I don’t think she saw me.
I saw woman standing in the centre of what looked like a common area so I walked over to her,
“Excuse me, hi, my name is Jena Gonski,” I said to the lady. She was fairly short but her hair was really long. I just wanted to touch it but resisted the urge,
“Hello Jena,” she said as she flipped through her pages on her clipboard, “Okay, you will be in cabin three which is just a few cabins down that way,” she said as she pointed south, “My name is Skye Potts, but please don’t call me Mrs Potts, Skye is fine,”
“Okay, thank you Skye.”
When I arrived at cabin three I saw a girl peek through the blinds inside. As soon as she saw me she ran away laughing. I walked up the steps to the door and opened it. I scanned to cabin. It was fairly old. There were four beds, (one bunk bed and two single beds), a cupboard and some chest of drawers. My eyes fell to the centre of the room where there were two girls sitting cross legged on the floor. One of the girls stood up and walked over to me,
“Hey,” she said, “I’m Rose, and this is Poppy. We’re twins,”
“Hi, I’m Jena. You guys don’t look that much alike,”
“That’s because we’re fraternal twins. From separate eggs,” Rose replied,
“Is you name spelt like Jena Malone or Jenna Marbles?” asked Poppy,
“Like Jena Malone,” I replied
“So me and Poppy are having the bunk bed so you can have your pick of the singles,”
“Cool, thanks,” I responded, “So is there going to be someone else in our cabin?” I asked,
“Probably yes, depends on how many kids are coming,” Rose replied. I dumped my bags on the bed that I picked and leaped on after them,
“So what are we doing today?” I asked,
“Well we have to go to the cafeteria at noon for lunch and I’m guessing that they’re gonna tell us then.” I nodded in response.
Poppy, Rose and I had been talking for about fifteen minutes and I was surprised that I had made friends so quickly. But then the door burst open. Standing in the doorway was a girl. She was really tall and skinny and she had blonde hair. I glanced over at the twins and they were staring at her so I just continued to stare also. She walked over to my bed,
“Get up,” she said, and I obeyed. I grabbed my bag and got off the bed. She dumped her bright pink bags on the bed,
“If any of you touch my things I will personally kill you,” she said with such a stern tone of voice. She turned on her heels, flicking me with her hair in the process and walked out. I threw my bags onto the remaining bed and sat on the floor,
“What’s her problem?” I asked. The girls both shrugged, “What’s her name?”
“Angel,” Poppy said and I raised my eyebrows,
“It’s short for Angelica,” Rose filled in,
“Oh,” I sighed,
“She’s the bitch of this whole camp,” said Poppy.
