For the next two days, Rose, Poppy and I practiced and practiced our singing parts until they were basically perfect. We also practiced our acting parts which I have to admit, the girls were really good. By the time Thursday rolled around, I was ready.

“Okay everyone; settle down,” called Skye over the noise in the practice hall, “As you all know, today is audition day! So up on the board out here, I have all the different parts, who will be watching your audition and where it will be. So come up and have a look,” Skye finished. Rose Poppy and I raced up to the board, so excited for who might be watching us,

“Aww, not William,” Poppy sighed,

“Yes!” I exclaimed, “I got Skye.”

It was about two-thirty in the afternoon. Auditions had been going on since about eleven o’clock. My audition was in the practice hall. For our audition we had to first read from the script then sing Melissa’s big song ‘Firework’. Unluckily for me, Angelica was in front of me. Of course she would audition for the lead role, she always gets it. I’m in way over head,

“Next please,” called Skye. Angelica walked up and stood in front of Skye’s desk. When Skye looked up from her notes, Angelica did I little curtsey and I rolled my eyes,

“Okay Angelica, today you will be reading from the start scene seven,” said Skye and Angelica nodded. Angelica started her first line. I had to admit she was pretty good.

When they had finished reading it was time for the song. They only made her do the chorus but again she was pretty good. Then it was my turn. I started to feel nervous. I was shaking with fear and my head was dripping sweat. I was standing in front of Skye when she looked up,

“Jena, don’t worry, just do your best,” cooed Skye,

“Thanks,” I replied. We read from the same point that Angelica had read from. When the reading was over, it was time for the song. I began shivering nervously and I tried to calm myself down in my head. The piano started the familiar Firework tune. I waited for my cue to begin singing, but when it was time the words wouldn’t come,

“Jena, are you okay,” asked Skye. I nodded, “Okay. From the top,” she called. The tune started again and again I waited for my cue to enter. When the cue began, this time the words came.

After the song was over, I opened my eyes. Skye was beaming at me and clapping. I hadn’t seen her clap for any of the other girls,

“Thank you Jena, we’ll let you know if you got the part tomorrow,” said Skye. I nodded and walked back to the cabin.

Rose and Poppy were waiting anxiously for me to return. As I opened the door they both started asking me questions like: ‘How did it go?’, ‘How did Skye react?’, ‘Did you stuff up anything?’ I was so overwhelmed by all the questions I just asked,

“Do you guys know if you got the parts?” I questioned,

“It’s looking pretty good considering that there was only one other pair there and they couldn’t really sing,” stated Poppy. I smiled and nodded.

The next day, everyone was sitting around in the practice hall, chatting, and waiting for Skye. When she turned up, all attention was on her,

“Good morning everyone, thank you for settling down so quickly. Now, on to what I bet everyone is talking about; who has what parts. Okay, first we will start out with the leading rolls, and then we’ll move onto the more minor rolls, the troupes and then the crew.” “Okay, first up is the lead boy Jace. The person playing Jace will be… Will Simon, congratulations,” announced Skye. Everyone clapped as Will walked up to the stage. Angelica must really want Melissa, the lead girl now,

“Okay now on to the lead girl, the person playing Melissa will be…”
