“Excuse me girls! What are you doing?” asked Skye angrily. All I could manage was a little, high pitched squeak,
“Mobile phones are not permitted on camps and certainly not this one!” she stated. Skye held out her hand signalling for us to put our phones in her palm. Then she turned to face Angelica next to her,
“As for you missy, this is your cabin, this is where you sleep. If I catch you one more time in someone else’s cabin, you can come and sleep in my cabin with me. How does that sound?” Angelica just shook her head, not wanting to make eye contact with Skye,
“You girls can collect your phones from me at the end of the camp,” said Skye with a quieter voice, “Please get some sleep now its late, goodnight,” Skye said whilst shutting our cabin door,
“Fuck you girls, fuck all of you!” said Angelica. But she was too loud,
“I heard that!” Yelled Skye and the three of us sniggered.
For the rest of the camp, Skye made life hell for Angelica. She was harsher on Rose, Poppy and I, but not as harsh as she was with Angelica.
We had been at the camp for four weeks when we started to work on our final performance,
“Okay everyone, today we will be revealing what our final performance will be,” announced Skye. Everyone began to slam their hands with the floor for a drumroll,
“The play we will be doing is… Summertime Sadness!” called Skye. The drumroll stopped. Everyone looked up and Skye with confused looks on their faces, “It’s a play that I wrote. Since we have been trying lots of new things at this year’s camp, I figured why not try a new play?” “I’ll hand around scripts now. There is a list of the cast and crew in the front. Have a look at that and have a flick through to script to see what characters you would like to try out for. Remember, we do need a few crew members,” Skye started to hand out the scripts. When I got mine I looked at the cast and crew list,
“I think I’ll just be in the crew or the dance troupe,” I stated,
“No way Jena, you should try out for the lead girl, Melissa,” argued Rose. I blushed,
“Fine. Who are you guys gonna try out for?” I asked,
“Oh my God Rose, look, there’s twins!” cried Poppy,
“Oh yes. We have to get that. They have to let us,” called Rose. I laughed. Standing on the stage, Skye raised her arm to signal for us the be quite,
“Okay, thank you everyone. Just some information, if you are trying out for a singing part, you can collect the pieces from any of the camp leaders. We have some pianists to help you, but I know some of you can actually play piano. The rest of today will be spent practicing and same with the next two days. On Thursday, we will be doing auditions. So get started,” Skye finished.
Rose, Poppy and I headed over to a piano room. Lucky for me, Poppy can actually play the piano. That saved me from having to sing in front of a complete stranger. Before we left the practice hall, I grabbed the sheet music for Melissa and the girls grabbed the music for the twins, Reagan and Riley. When we got to the piano room, Poppy sat down at the baby grand in the centre of the room. The walls of the room were plastered in pictures of different instruments,
“I’m going to play our song first Rose,” stated Poppy and Rose nodded. The song for the twins was in fact a song about twins! When the girls w\finished singed, I clapped and cheered and the girls smiled back at me,
“Let’s do your song now Jena,” called Poppy and I nodded nervously. The recognisable beginning of Firework started to play and I didn’t need to read the words as I sung.
When I finished, I opened my eyes for the first time since the start of the song. Poppy and Rose were facing me with their jaws dropped open,
“What’s wrong?” I asked nervously,
“That was amazing!” Shouted Poppy,
“Really?” I questioned, both the girls nodded and a huge smile spread across my face.

Just in case you wanted, the song that Jena sings, Firework by Katy Perry is on the side. If you wanted.
