Oakley's POV

I'm full of fear, and nothing else. Where are they taking me? Surely it will be a place where there's no Anthony, Thayne, Lin, or Hamilton cast...where I would have no one to my right nor my left.

"Isn't there any process that we can initiate now? I've clearly shown interest, and she likes it here!" Lin speaks, trying to save me.

"I'm afraid that it doesn't work that way, sir. We have to take her to an orphanage and it will be taken from there. Thank you for finding Ms. Williams and keeping her safe." the leader who is still holding me speaks. With that, he gives a nod to the rest of the crew, almost like some sort of cue. After seconds of absolutely nothing happening, he sprints out the door with the crew following behind. I'm placed in a seat inside their van, and everyone rushes in. As we pull away from the Rodgers, I see Thayne, Lin, Anthony, Leslie, and Daveed run outside; they're too late.

During the drive, I realize that all of my belongings are still in Lin's dressing room. Everything I have left, is now gone. What about Max? I sure hope that he'll be in good hands.

We eventually pull up at what I assume is the orphanage. I'm walked inside by one of the women of the CPS, who registers me into the system with the lady at the front desk. Once the registration is done, the CPS woman leaves and I'm shown to my room. The walls are white, the ground is a beat up white carpeting, and theres one average sized window. There's also a mattress with a plain white pillow and blanket. I plop down on my 'bed', and the lady from the front desk shuts and locks my door.

Now, I'm isolated in my own thoughts.

-two weeks later-

I've been here for who knows how long. I'm fed three meals a day, but they aren't enough to fulfill my hunger. I still have hope that Lin will come and find me, but it slowly fades as each day passes slowly by. I stare out my window and think that a month ago I was probably sitting at home with my family, excited that the weekend had officially arrived. We probably ordered dinner from our favorite local pizza shop, and my brother and I convinced our parents to let us order milkshakes.

You never realize how much you'll truly miss something until it's taken from you. Whether it's the little things in life or the huge chunks of rock that if removed, will cause your mountain to crumble. For me, both have been taken away. The only thing that hasn't is my own life, that I hope will only get better from this point on.

This is rock bottom, and I'm waiting for that someone to come along and offer me a rope; they'll pull me out from my eternal hole called depression, and make my wishes into a reality.

Lin's POV

"Hey Vanessa, any luck with the CPS?" I ask my wife, hoping that the might have received a response after weeks of waiting. Ever since Oakley was taken away, we realized that V would probably be able to figure some information out since she's a lawyer.

"Actually, yes. They said that they'll be able to send me a complete profile on where she is, how to become licensed foster parents, go through a home inspection, and all other things along those lines." she explains with a smile on her face. I thank Vanessa, then get ready to go to the theatre. I put on some khakis and a #yayhamlet tee with some black vans, then head out the door with my backpack on after planting a kiss on my wife's cheek.

I decide to walk to the Rodgers today, because I'm not in a taxi or a subway mood. Once I arrive, I explain to everyone how Vanessa is in contact with the CPS.

"I hope she doesn't find any razors there, I'd hate for her to cut again. It made me so sad to see her in so much pain that day." Anthony says, referring to the day she got taken away. He was the first to find out why Oakley cut, but told us everything after the CPS incident. Anthony has a good point, and I begin to worry that she'll harm herself at the orphanage. I really hope she's in good hands.

Oakley's POV

Since my realization yesterday, I've been building up my hope again. If this really is rock bottom, it can only get better from here on out. As I sit on my bed and wait to be called downstairs for breakfast, a girl who looks to be about seventeen walks in my room.

"Hi! Do you need something?" I simply ask as I stand up, confusion washing over me. Why is this girl in here? Maybe she needs a friend, I should give her a chance.

"Hi, my name's Ashley and I have some important things to share with you. I don't know why you think that you can trot on into this orphanage and think that you'll be adopted. I'll have you know that the next girl to be adopted will be me, and that's that. No one would ever want an ugly rat like you anyways." she says in a snobby tone. As shock fulfills me, Ashley's fist collides with my jaw and I fall backwards onto my bed. She plants a few punches on my stomach, leaving plenty of visible bruises. As Ashley walks out of my room, she turns her head back around and warns,

"That's what you get for thinking you're entitled to a brand new life. News flash! You'll never get adopted, Oak Tree."
