Thayne's POV

I've witnessed every single one of Oakley's facial expressions throughout the show, and they're pretty funny to be honest. She'll go from staring at the stage in awe to crying a whole load of tears; by the time we're starting Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story, she's crying, but no tears are coming out of her eyes.

I notice that as soon as we sang the phrase, "the orphanage," Oakley stiffened like she did when I was giving her a piggy back ride. Only this time, I can see it in her eyes that she's lost in thought. I get so worried that I nearly forget that I'm still on stage, so I continue dancing whilst keeping my eyes on Oakley. She's shaking, but not too extreme; just enough so that I can see after staring her down for however long it's been.

Once the lights dim, indicating the end of the show, Oakley doesn't clap. I don't think she's paying any attention to what's going on around her; not intentionally, but I think that she's still shaken up. After everyone bows and we walk off the stage, she's still sitting there motionless. I quickly change out of my costume, then sneak out to the audience. I go up to Oakley and give her a little tap on the shoulder, but she screams when I do this.

"Please, please don't touch me. I didn't do anything. Please, go away!" she sobs out, as she shields herself from my gentle hand.

"Oak, it's me, Thayne; the show's over. You're okay." I explain, slowly leaning in to hug her. She snaps out of her deep thought, and hugs me tightly.

"I'm sorry, Thayne. I don't know what just happened. I-I guess I just zoned out once you guys sang the word 'orphanage,' and then I started remembering everything that happened... it hurt so bad Thayne, she hit me so hard and I-" she cuts herself off and leans into my shoulder, sobbing.

"Come on, I'll take you backstage. You can have some of my cookies, they're made with love." I say with a smile, trying to cheer her up.

"Okay, cookies sound nice. Please carry me, I'm too lazy for this 'walking' thing." she pleads, holding her arms out. I pick Oakley and her Playbill up, then we go backstage. I walk to Lin's dressing room and set her down on the couch.

"I'll go get the cookies, Oak. Do you want anything else? I can get you some pizza from across the street or food from anywhere nearby." I offer.

"I'm in the mood for some hot chocolate but I don't want to be bothersome. You don't have to get me anything except for the cookies." she responds.

"I'm not taking no for an answer, young one. If you want hot chocolate then I'll get you some. Do you like dark, milk, or white chocolate?" I say, and she lets out a sigh before admitting,

"Milk chocolate. Thanks Thayne, you're the best."

"No problem Oaky. I'll be back in a little bit, maybe you should get some rest." I say as I help her take off her boots and cover her with a comfy blanket.

"I will. Stay safe, please. I can't bear to lose anyone else." Oakley says, sitting up to give me a hug. I hug her back, and then give her a pat on the head before heading to the men's ensemble dressing room. I grab my wallet and put it in my pocket, then exit the Rodgers using an alternative door. I love stagedooring, but Oakley is more important right now.

I head towards eighth avenue, and within five minutes arrive at a place called Amorino. I love getting hot chocolate from here every winter, and even though it's not winter yet, it's never too early.

I order Oakley their milk chocolate hot cocoa, which is technically called a cioccolata calda since it's an Italian hot chocolate. Hot chocolate is easier to say, though. I pay and am handed her drink, then quickly go back to the theatre.

I head back to the men's ensemble dressing room to drop off my wallet and grab my cookie jar. Once I snag a cookie for myself, I make my way to Lin's dressing room. I assume that she got into her comfy clothes while I was gone, because before I left she was still in her outfit from the show.

"Order up for Miss Oakley Miranda!" I call out, using my Seabury voice. Oakley doesn't respond, but I then realize she's sound asleep. I set down my cookie jar and her hot cocoa then bend over next to Oakley. Lightly tapping her shoulder, I whisper,

"Oakley, I have your drink and the cookies of love! You'd better wake up before I have it all.."

Eventually, her eyes flutter open and she flashes a smile.

"Thank you Thayne. You're the best big brother a girl could ask for." she says as I hand her the cookie jar and hot cocoa.

"Y-you see me as a brother?" I ask in disbelief.

"Oh crap, I'm sorry, I know you probably just see me as some girl off the streets... let's pretend I never said that." she trails off.

"No! I don't see you as some girl of the streets," I pause, sitting down by her feet, "I see you as a little sister. My little Oaky." Oakley smiles once she hears me say this, and sits up to give me a hug. She falls asleep in my arms, with a big smile plastered upon her face.
