Chapter 9

Theo's POV

Shailene leads the way through crowds of people.

We make our way down the large lobby and then finally through a pair of sliding doors that lead out to the resort itself.

Shai leads us through these doors, and instantly I am overwhelmed with such beauty and amazement for this place. No wonder it held five star ratings...

Before me, I feel Shai tighten her grip on my hand, and her eyes light up with wonder. "Oh wow!" She breathes and I slide my gaze to her for a moment.

All around us were decorated paths which led towards several pools and along the lengths of the beach. Seagulls and pigeons flew overhead within the crystal blue skies while younger children ran wildly around the place, some heading for the beach, some heading towards some booths, and others heading off in directions that led who-knows-where.

Whoa.

The place was just astounding to even look at, and to think I was going to be spending a couple days here with Shailene Woodley, my beloved and cherished friend and partner.

"Can you believe this? I mean who builds these places?" Shai now gleefully remarks from my side and she gives a little enthralled bounce from where she stood, her lips stretching in an enjoyable smile.

"Actually, I must say, this place is rather nice. I've never seen any place like this." I comment, and her eyes sweep to mine, their joyfulness and happiness just overtaking me somehow.

"Dude, this is like an insane paradise! It's so pretty here!" She agrees with a firm nod and I chuckle lightly at her.

"Well um, not to break up any sight-seeings here Shai, but I am still a little hungry just so you know." I now remind her with a grinning look and she laughs at me next. "Of course you are Theo, you're always hungry!" She chuckles with her cute voice and I find myself biting my lip.

Suddenly though, two little kids race by us at a flying speed, their legs pumping hard and their faces overjoyed and excited.

Shai turns and watches them go, her eyes trailing them until they round a corner and then are out of sight. I watch as she inhales and exhales next slowly, in a relishing state of mind.

"W-Well come on. Let's go look around." She now turns back to me, and she noticeably drops her gaze just a bit downwards towards my chest area. "I-I'm sure we'll find some place to eat." She then adds and she forces her eyes off me.

I blink as she starts off again, but this time she no longer is holding my hand...

I quicken my pace after her, my long strides overtaking her immediately and I instinctively grasp at her hand again, fitting hers within mine, and she shifts her gaze onto me.

I couldn't help it...

I liked holding her hand. I liked being as friendly as I possibly could with her, because she was always being such a friendly person by nature towards others like me.

Around us, there are so many voices and faces now. Sounds of splashing water and laughter rung in the air as well. The whole resort seemed festive and teeming with life everywhere.

"Ooh, Theo, look!" Shai then suddenly squeaks, her voice enthusiastic and sweet sounding. I follow her gaze over towards a place with tables and chairs just overlooking a large pool area. People who sat at some tables were chewing on food and breakfast items, and immediately my mouth starts to water.

"Nice eye there, girl." I compliment to Shailene next and she just smiles at me.

We approach forward and it's then that I make out a sign called 'The Grand Cafe' sitting within some vegetation and lovely plants just outside the patio.
