i stood still, searching for finnick.
"katniss watch out!" gale yelled.
brutus came around the corner and threw a knife at me. i moved to the side, but not quick enough. it hit me in the leg. i fell on the ground, and screamed in pain. the rest of the careers came, following brutus.
"gale run." i demanded.
he nodded and ran away.
"hello katniss." gloss said.
i pulled the knife out of my leg and threw it at cashmere. she screamed, and all the focus was on her. it gave me a chance to run.
i stood up and started running back to the beach, my leg hurting more and more with every step. eventually, i couldn't take it anymore, and fell into the water. i pulled myself back up, coughing.
"katniss come on." prim said. she started running, and i ran after her.
finnick, gale, mags, and peeta were all on the beach, waiting for us.
"so where are we going?" gale asked.
"away from here." i replied.
"i have an idea. follow me." prim said.
prim started walking towards the trees. we all followed behind her.

"it's been an hour. i don't think i can go any more." i complained.
my leg was in so much pain. i felt like i was about to fall over. the worst part was we were on a hill, going up.
i looked ahead of us and remembered what wiress and beetee told me about the forcefields. there has to be one in every arena, since no one's ever gotten out. they're dangerous too, haymitch used it as a weapon in his games.
then i saw it- the forcefield, right in front of prim.
"prim stop!" i yelled.
i didn't say it fast enough, because she hit the forcefield and went flying backwards, hitting most of us before falling on the ground. i fell over, rolled down the hill, and crashed into a tree at the bottom. i groaned and stood up.
"you okay?" peeta asked.
i nodded. i climbed about halfway up the hill before taking a ten second break, then continuing the climb.
when i got to the top, i flopped on my stomach.
"you missed the cpr." gale said with a smile.
"yeah, and you missed me crashing into a tree." i laughed.
"let's go find somewhere to stay." finnick said, picking mags up and putting her on his back.

we walked for a little longer, where we found a small cave, but big enough that all of us could sleep in there comfortably. it was starting to get dark.
"i'll take first watch." peeta volunteered.
"i'll go last." i said.
i pulled up my pant leg to show where the knife hit me earlier. i wrapped it with a leaf. i set down the backpack and put my bow and arrows next to it.
"what's in there?" prim asked.
"a couple knives. i think that's it." i replied.
she nodded, and i fell asleep.

i woke up to the anthem playing. i looked up in the sky to see these faces-
the boy and girl from both three and four, everyone from five, all but the girl victor from six, all of eight, nine, and ten.
"25 left?" i asked.
finnick nodded.
i fell back asleep.

this time, i woke up to a scream.
"careers!"
