Baby Scars

As life goes on,
We find people.
We find friends, family and lovers, or even
"The one"
And as life goes one,
We lose people.
From friends to make shift families
We find, we lose, we share,
We find people and make something that will surely tear you apart,
But those are only baby scars,
Or at least that's what I say
For one day you will look back and see the mistakes and happiness you lacked because,
Living in the moment has become so underrated
Because fighting against the flow just seems so much more appealing but it leaves my mind reeling for I could never relate.

I live in the moment,
Which is always ruined by a flashing camera,
I never fought the flow,
But watched as it passed me by
And who am I but someone who resides beneath the tide,
I am me.

And you are here in a place where things aren't fair,
Where hearts break as we say good bye,
As we fall out of love,
As we lose the ones we loved,
As we try to love one another,
As we forgive the past
But never forget for they are baby scars upon our skin,
From tattoos to that ominous bruise,
The mole you got from that summers vacation to the fact you still have your high school identification
And these are scars we can see,
For there are more evading eyesight,
They are the ones that tell a different and more difficult story.

There are scars upon your heart,
From when you handed it to someone else who's fingers were covered in grease.
Not only smearing you with sticky black,
But dropping you,
There are cracks.

My heart lay six feet deep with someone who never made it past the age sixteen,
And what a terrible world it's been.
To say good bye to those we loved,
To bury the past in caskets for the young,
For some times baby scars run deep,
They take those we love away and remind us of a terrible yesterday
But there's is always today.
There is always now.
And there is always tomorrow.

You can only be unstable for so long,

They're only baby scars,
Words I try hard to believe
They are more,
They are lessons we've learnt and loved ones we've lost,
They are the literal scars upon our skin where we traced invisible lines with blades and razors,
Where we made a map of our skin that will surely lead us home,

These are only baby scars,

For there are more to come...
