The Challenge ; Baylee I. Kingg

It all starts out with a girl named Sierra. She was different then everyone else, she had Down syndrome, and nobody accepted her for who she was. Sierra was a kind, happy 9 year old girl well at least she used to be happy, until one day she was with her mother and father driving on their way back from their grandmothers house (grandma lives in Tennessee) and her father was driving and Sierra cut herself on the seat belt and the father tried to turn around to make sure she was okay "look out sam!" Cried the mother, So the father turned towards the road real fast and all he seen was a big cement truck crash into their car. The car rolled down the hill and smashed into a building it was on fire. Sierra was shaking in disbelief as she sat there and seen her parents dead. Sierra was terrified she didn't know what was going on and then all she heard were police cars racing towards them.

A few weeks since the incident Sierra stayed at a school for the mentally challenged. Sierra did not like it there. They treated her very unfair. One day at lunch Sierra found a friend, his name was Anthony. Anthony also had Down syndrome. Then the next night Ms. Maden the head person at the school seen Sierra and Anthony talking, "how dare you, you know that boys and girls are never allowed to socialize in this school never!" she screamed. Sierra and Anthony, faces as red as apples started crying because Ms. Maden had went to go punch them super hard across the face. Ms. Maden was a very grouchy Jamaican woman she was meaner than sharks on shark week. The only time Anthony and Sierra were able to socialize is when they were at recess when Ms. Maden was not there. Anthony had agreed to Sierra that he does not like it there so Sierra and Anthony made a plan to escape one day. They still didn't plan out when they're going to do it but they know it will be soon.

"Wake up, it is time to go Sierra" said Anthony, "Go where Anthony" she asked " let's go escape". Anthony had a hard time speaking, so did Sierra. " Okay let's go!" yelled Sierra happily "shhhh they're going to hear us and never let us go!" Exclaimed Anthony. So Sierra and Anthony packed up their stuff and headed out of the school. Soon they had found themselves in east Nevada. " I have been walking for days Sierra what are we going to do?" Cried Anthony. " We are going to find a home for a little while" she said. So a few minutes later they had ran into a house. "Why hello darlings why for the love of Pete what are you doing! come in come in!" Said a very nice young woman. Sierra and Anthony went inside and told her the whole story. " Why haven't yous been through a lot huh? well here is some water and porterhouse steak.". Sierra and Anthony ate like pigs because they haven't ate in days. " Thank you ma'am I really appreciate it. my name is Sierra, my friends name is Anthony." "Would you like to stay here sweethearts? I have an extra room upstairs for you with two very cozy beds in them and very clean cozy sheets". So it was getting late and Sierra and Anthony went upstairs and the nice lady (aka Gladys) tucked them in and told them a bed time story. It was now morning and Sierra and Anthony went downstairs to have breakfast. "I have a present for you guys!" said Gladys. She pulled out a ton of clothes for the children. "Thank you very much!" Said Anthony " yeah thank you" added Sierra. The clothes fit perfectly. Later that night when they all were playing a board game, they heard a knock on the door. So Gladys got up to answer the door and it was Ms. Maden! "give me back the children now!" she screamed. The two children were worried they didn't want to leave their new home. "Go upstairs sweethearts" said Gladys. So they did. " Ma'am I'm very sorry, but they don't want to go, and even if they did I would not let them because I heard what you did to those children and they deserve better and I am going to do everything I can to stay with them and keep them safe. So I'm very sorry madam but I am not giving up these children." said Gladys. "Well fine I am going to press charges then for kidnapping my children." said Ms. Maden. "You go right ahead" said Gladys. So about 15 minutes later police showed up at the door. "Under arrest for stealing children" said the police officer. "Oh no what happened was Ms. Maden she was beating them so they decided to leave the school and they came here and I've been treating them nothing but good so I never kidnapped them I gave them a better home thats not considered kidnapping it's considered making sure the children are safe and not getting beat like Ms. Maden does" said Gladys. "Is that true Ms. Maden" he asked "um I am not sure what she is talking about.." Said Ms. Maden blushing. "Tell it to the judge!" said the cop. Later that night Sierra and Anthony went downstairs to get a snack and they seen Ms. Maden she had escaped jail she went into the house and went toward the children then they screamed and made Gladys get up and run down stairs "leave me alone!" they cried "get off of them!" cried Gladys. She grabbed the children ran upstairs put them hidden in the closet and then ran downstairs to get the cruel lady out of her house. Later on she was out so Gladys ran upstairs to get the children and pit them to bed. It was a challenging life for the children. A few days later they all went to the park Gladys was pushing Anthony down the slide when Sierra was on the teeter totter and some random guy walks up to her and try's to kidnap her until Gladys grabs Anthony and races over to save Sierra. She hold Sierra and Anthony in her arms. Later on she finds out that the guy that tried kidnapping Sierra was Ms. Madens' brother.
