Mark's face was still as blank as a statue. his eyes like frozen jade. staring off into the distance.
to the sky, or down to the swirling waters below us, i couldn't tell. he just stood there unblinkingly. even his mind had fallen silent. not a faintest whisper could be heard.
i was about to begin asking him again, when he suddenly spoke:
" why did you think i brought you all the way up here?" i shoved my hands into the pockets of his jacket. trying not to enjoy the sight of his curls being caressed by the wind. while i thought of an answer.
why indeed?
" i don't really know, but you said you want to show me something, which would help me change my mind." i admitted. shifting one foot to antoher uncomfortably, quoting his own words back to him.
" because i want to show you the reason why i accepted being a Master vampire. i thought it was going to be my brother, Mikos. he was centuries older and ten times more wiser and powerful than me. so you could imagine how shocked i was when my father relinquished his title to me, in full view of the council. not wanting to have anything to do with it, i ran away."
