i was waiting for  my order. the cafe's specialty, which would also serve as my late lunch. the mousaka.

sort of like some greek version of souffle with minced meat, potatoes topped with cheese sauce.

Mark lifted his shoulder in a negligent shrug,

" it was the easiest way i could think of to get us out of there. i couldn't stand that awful, growling noise in your stomach anymore, and i knew you were so determined to buy a new nightgown before you do anything else."

again, was the unexpected fluttery feeling on the pit of my stomach at his words.  it seemed silly, for he said them in his usual, off-handed manner. and i knew i shouldn't think of it as something entirely different.  but i couldn't help feeling secretly pleased that he could be concrened enough about me, to toss his money away on a stall-full of nightgowns just so he could make me go willingly with him to a restaurant and eat.

if Mark ever heard that last thought, he never showed any hint. noth that i wouldn't have known if he did anyway.  Master Jhin had not only taught me how to block my mind, he also taught me how to detect if someone is trying to get inside it.
