Jeff POV
"You go first..." she said, looking up at me.
I coughed awkwardly. "Well.... I... may... sorta...." I looked into her eyes, and I saw a spark of sensitivity and care in them. I had missed that so much. "I... I really... Like... you...." I choked out the words.
She froze, and I pulled away and backed away some. "I..... I'm sorry." I bit my lip and looked away.
"For what...?" she asked softly, and I looked up at her to see a big smile on her face. I raised a brow, and leaned in close.
"For everythi-" I stopped when she cut me off with a kiss. I felt my cheeks rise in temperature, and I was hoping that my cheeks weren't as red as I thought they were.
She giggled. "Don't be sorry." she replied, hugging me. I took a moment to process what just happened as I hugged her back tightly.
"I.... I love you, Phoenix...." I whispered.

Phoenix POV
He said it! I can't believe he said it! He... loves me...
I leaned my head against his chest, hearing his quickening heart beat.
"I.. Love you too." I said, smiling. I let out a breath that I didn't even realize I was holding, then smiled. A song came to my head, and without thinking, I started to hum it.
I pulled away from Jeff and smiled.
"I gotta go." he said, then kissed my cheek and, within a few seconds, was gone. The only evidence of him being there was the open window... and the smell of blood.
Which I guess I didn't mind that smell anymore.
