I stood there motionless for some seconds, taking in his appearance and wondering if it was not just a dream. "Dani?" He said again, but a little louder this time. I snapped out of my dazed state and glared at him. "Damian? What the hell are you doing here? This is freaking-" I picked up my phone to check the time "-2:39 in the morning! And you look a mess."

His lips twitched into a small smile and he said "Can I at least come in?" I widened my eyes in surprise "What, through the window?" He rolled his eyes, the ghost of a smile still on his lips as he lifted himself on the window ledge. Halfway up, he lost his bearing on his hand and almost fell. I gasped and held his second hand, holding out my second hand to him to grab onto. He finally held it and with all my might, I pulled him into the room. "Phew! That was close. You're such an idiot, why did you insist on climbing in, you could've fallen off." He chuckled a bit loudly.

"Hey, be quiet, you don't wanna wake the whole household up by this time. By the way, why are you even here?! You stood me up, remember?" I whisper-yelled. He sighed and staggered to my bed. That was when I noticed his steps were not steady and he really looked a mess. "Wait a minute, are you drunk?" He landed on my bed with a thud and started murmuring some incoherent words. I heard 'dad', 'sorry', 'didn't mean to' and 'forgive me' out of all his babbling. Dad? He's having...dad problems? I frowned and brows creased in worry. I walked towards the bed to discover he was already sound asleep.

I sighed, lifted his legs, pulled off his boots and placed them on the floor, placing the blanket over him. I took a moment to really look at him. He looked emotionally drained. For a long moment I felt pity for him. I then thought back to when I asked that question that fateful day.

"Why were you so grumpy the first day we met? You seem like an okay enough human being."

I teased but the smile wiped off of his face. It was replaced with look of...was it sadness? I almost regretted asking the question. Almost. "I...I.." He started saying, but nothing came out of his mouth.

Hmm...could it be the same reason he was like that that day we met? The memory of that day came rushing in and I couldn't help but smile and look how far we've come since then.

Okay, maybe not that far, seeing as I want to spank his head for standing me up earlier, but considering our "frenemy" status, I'd say we've fairly come a long way. I pondered on these thoughts finally drifting off to sleep.

"What the hell?!" A very very loud voice boomed, making me jerk up from bed with a gasp. I looked around frantic for some seconds until my eye settled on the figure standing in my doorway.

Josh.

Josh? What is he doing there? I thought sleepily. Until my brain registered the look on his face. And the direction to which he was looking. My eyes followed his to my right and I saw none other than Damian snoring peacefully, like he didn't have a care in the world. I turned back to look at Josh, my eyes widened in alarm. "Josh, trust me, its not what you think it is." He snorted. "Yeah, right. You know, when I said you should come back in one piece yesterday, I actually meant it." I rolled my eyes at him. Did he really say that? "We didn't do anything, okay? He even stood me up last night." I said. He eyed me, disbelief etched onto his features. "Yeah, I can see that clearly." He replied sarcastically.

Just then, I heard a groan from behind me. I turned and saw Damian holding his head very tight, his eyes shut tight, groaning continuously. I held back a laugh. He sounded like a wounded ram. "Hurts like hell." He said. I looked towards Josh to see him holding on to his laughter by a thread. "Damian" I said softly. He stiffened and then slowly he opened his eyes, squinting at me. His eyes widened, confirming his suspicion. "Dani? What..? How come...? I-" he struggled to form words to say and looked so confused. So adorable. I thought. I shook my head to clear that disturbing thought and sighed in preparation to clear the matter at hand. "Chill, Damian. One question at a time."
