Today was the anniversary of my mom's death.
I heard my step mom in the kitchen making breakfast. i like my step mom, it's just that she can get really pissed at me when her daughter does stuff and I get in trouble. She just doesn't want to accept the fact that she's not perfect like the rest of us human beings. I sighed and went downstairs."Hey Nancy," I greeted once I was in the kitchen. She smiled at me."Good morning, Ari. How are you?" She slid a plate of hot pancakes, eggs, and bacon in front of me. " I'm just dandy," I said sarcastically. She sighed. "This is about your mom, right?" I nodded. " I know this is hard for you, but for your dad, too." She looked at me while I was eating. Then her eyes lit up.
"So, how's Jake doing? Hadn't seen him since yesterday." I blushed and looked down at my food. Nancy knew I have a crush on Jake, my best friend since grade school. She figured out yesterday, and my dad is still trying to dig it out of her. "He's fine. He made his basketball tryout, too." She smiled at that.
"Hey Ari, hey mom." Nacny's daughter, Mikalya, greeted us as she sat down. Nancy sighed. "well, you and your dad better get going, huh?" I nodded and went to the front door to wait for my dad. My dad came down the stairs and smiled when he saw me. I noticed his eyes were red, but I ignored it and forced out a smile. "You ready?" I held up the flowers in my hand and nodded.
When we were on our way to my mom's grave when my dad spoke." Honey, I know this is hard for you, especially since you were there that day."
