Not as it Seems [Voltron Klance - Spider-Man AU]

Chapter 2

(Edit: I'd like to thank Lunai-Wolf for giving me the info about cross-species genetics so now finally I've changed what Keith says.)

"Ok everyone! Stay with the group and try to not touch anything!" The teacher called as the class made their way through Galra Tower, up to the lab.

It was Keith's physics class's trip to the Galra Towers and just to Keith's luck Lance is in his class.

Keith sighed and pulled his red hoodie closer to him as he listened to the tour guide talk about the stuff they have been doing at the lab. Although Keith was excited for this trip he wished he could go and explore but he was forced to stay with the group.

As the tour guide droned on about the cross-species genetics; which Keith knew a great deal about; the said boy's thoughts drifted to something else he hadn't thought of in a while; his parents.

Keith didn't really remember who his parents, just faintly remember a picture of a guy with black hair but every time he thought long and hard about it he thinks it just Shiro before he got his hair cut and dyed that funky color with the white on his bangs and got his undercut.

Keith was taken from his thoughts when he heard the tour guide call on him.
'Great this is just like school' Keith thought bitterly as he turned his attention to the guide.
"Yes... Keith was it?" The guide; Allura (this might change. Idk where to put Allura and Coran xD); said as she looked at her keyboard.
"Could you please tell us what cross-species genetics might do to help the world?"
Keith crossed his arms and looked around the lab as he thought of the answer.

"If you don't know then cross spe-"
"Let's say a girl gets Parkinson's, when the brain cells that produce dopamine start to disappear, they can't regenerate the cells like some of the creatures out there, like the Zebrafish," Keith said as he started to ramble, "the zebrafish has the ability to regenerate cells on command. If you can somehow give this ability to the woman you're talking about, that's that. She's curing herself." Keith said as he cut Allura off, feeling people's eyes on him as he spoke, using animated hand gestures from force of habit.

"That... That's right. Uh well done Keith," Allura said and gave him a small smile, "Now if you guys follow safety orders you can explore this floor; and only this floor; of the lab." She finished and the class dispersed around the lab.

Keith sighed in relief and quickly walked away from the group on his own.

Keith had walked around for a bit before he found a case of 10 genetically mutated spiders. He looked at them for awhile while reading the presentation that was rolling on a screen next to him when he felt a presence stand next to him.

Thinking it was one of his friends; Pidge or Hunk; he spoke out.
"Do you ever think that you know something but when you get close to it, it changes into something else entirely?" He said while tilting his head slightly.

"Yeah. Looks can be deceiving." A voice that didn't belong to his friends spoke softly next to him. Keith whipped his head up and looked over to see the one and only... Lance McClain. His pale cheeks turned slightly red and he nodded.

"L-like the spiders. If you look at them from afar they almost look normal but they are so much more." Keith said, stuttering because of his social awkwardness.
Lance smiled and nodded. "I have to agree. Did you know that they have an 11th spider that has all of the super spider abilities of all the spiders you see here?" Lance said looking over at Keith with a smug smile of his face.

Keith looked impressed at Lance's knowledge before he saw the same thing on the TV screen that was playing all the information about the spiders. Keith smirked and chuckled softly.
"You read that off of the TV smart one." He joked and gently pushed Lance, both of them laughing.

"Caught me red-handed." Lance joked as he pointed out Keith's red hoodie and chuckled. "By the way I'm sorry about Nyma and Rolo. I know they both have kinda a temper on them." Lance said putting his hands in his jacket pockets.

Keith scratched the back of his head and shrugged it off. "It's fine. A little busted lip didn't kill any one." He said giving Lance a small smile. Thanks to Shiro, Keith's lip had started to heal quickly and was now just a small scab on his lip.
"So you work for the newspaper or something?" Lance asked motioning towards the Camera Keith had.

Keith nodded and took his hands out of his pockets and fiddled with the camera. "Yeah. My stepbrother kinda forced me, saying I needed to widen my interests." He said then remembered he was supposed to take photos for the school newspaper. "Hey, I have to take photos for the paper, could you just pose for me?" Keith asked, his cheeks slightly red.

Lance nodded and smiled. "Make sure to get my good side," He joked, turning his head dramatically to the side, "Wait, they are both my good sides." He finished, smiling cheekily.
"Yeah yeah. Just pretend to be reading something." Keith said as he stepped back and got his camera ready, not noticing the empty spider case along side the other 10 spiders.
"Ready?" Keith said and quickly took the picture. He went to the photos to look at the photo and squirmed as he felt something crawl on his back. Brushing the feeling away he was going to show Lance when the Teacher and the tour guide called the class back.

The class was on the bus heading back to school, everyone chatting excitedly. Keith sat by himself, slouched in his seat as his knees pressed to the back of the seat in front of him. He squirmed as he felt the familiar crawling on his back again and scratched the back of his head to try and get rid of it.

He was fixing his hood as he still felt the crawling on his back when he left someone sit next to him. Looking over he saw Lance facing him, giving him a friendly grin.
"Hey Keith right? I know this great art museum that I think you would like." Lance said randomly, shocking Keith slightly.

"Uh.. what museum?" Keith asked as he sat up straight. The crawling feeling continued but he was distracted by Lance's excited face.
"It's the Altean Life Museum. They feature all kinds of art like painting, sculptures, and photography. I know you said your step brother made you join the newspaper for photography but it's still a cool place." Lance said and continued talking about different arts that were there

Keith listened to him with a small smile when he felt a sharp pinch on the back of his neck. He exclaimed out loud and flinched, leaning forward as he reached back, holding the hurt place in his hand as best he could.
"Keith? You ok what happened?" Lance asked when he noticed the black haired boy flinch. Keith nodded and rubbed his neck.
"Yeah. I'm fine.." He mumbled and brushed it off as the bus pulled up to their school.

Everyone got off the bus and Keith started to head home since it was the end of the day. Deciding to take the subway home he put his headphones in and played music as he walked alone to the subway.

next chapter I'm going to try and have Keith discover his powers and then find the spider and stuff. :3
