James's POV

Giselle performed a solo instead of Riley. But Ella won. By cheating. We were heading back from dinner, 12 of us, including Miss Kate. Riley had missed dinner. When Michelle went to get her, she was asleep. She didn't want to wake her, so I'm bringing Riley my leftovers, she probably would've gotten the same thing anyways if she had come. We arrived at the hotel, and everyone headed upstairs, the girls saying they were gonna hang out in the lounge, the guys saying they were gonna play video games. I trailed behind, and Kate noticed. She walked over, looking confused. "You alright James?" She asked.
"Yeah, I just wanted to ask if I could check on Riley." I answered. Kate sighed. One of her biggest rules was no guys in girls rooms, and vise versa.
"James." She started, and I knew she would say no.
"Please Kate! All I'm gonna do is leave her some food and make sure she's alright. She'll probably be asleep anyways, and if she's awake, she's sick. Nothing will happen." I begged. If the guys heard me right now, they would be laughing and call me whipped, but she's my girl, I wanted to make sure she was okay. Kate sighed again, licking her lips.
"Fine. You can use the room card I have, but don't think this will happen again." She finally gave in. She handed me the room key, she has an extra one to all the rooms we booked in case of emergency, and I smiled, taking the elevator up to the floor we were all staying on. I opened the door to the room the girls shared, to find it dark inside. I quietly closed the door, walking to where the 2 queen beds were. I smiled, seeing my girl asleep. I placed the food in the fridge, walking over to Riley. Gently, I placed a kiss on her head, getting ready to walk to my room, when I heard her stir.
"Babe?" I said gently. After 2 miscarriages, the word 'baby' only brings up bad memories, so despite Riley hating the nickname a few years ago, we use 'babe' more often now. I saw her dark figure rubbing her eyes, as Riley shifted in the bed. "Riles?" I asked again, getting an answer this time.
"Yeah?" She questioned, sounding tired.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you." I told her.
"It's okay." She answered quietly. I walked over, tucking her hair behind her ear.
"You missed dinner." I informed her. She shrugged, snuggling back into the pillow. "I brought you some food, it's in the fridge. You feeling better?" Riley nodded, yawning slightly. "I'll let you sleep." I said, kissing her forehead again, before walking away from the bed.
"James." She mumbled, causing me to turn back around and face her again.
"Yeah?" I answered. There was a brief silence, before she spoke again.
"I love you." She whispered, and I could tell she was falling asleep again as she spoke to me. I smiled, finding it cute how she was carrying on our conversation, despite the fact she was almost asleep.
"I love you too babe. Good night." I told her, before leaving her room. I gave Miss Kate the room key back, before joining the boys in our room.
"Dude where were you?" West asked, only briefly looking away from the tv screen.
"Just had to do something for Kate." I responded, avoiding having them yell at me for being with Riley, and picking up a controller, joining them in the game.
