Chapter 8: Conviviality

"You're late."

Sawyer grimaced at Trinity's sharp tone, "Yes, I know... I'm sorry, I had to watch over my sister for a bit this morning and completely forgot about our meeting. Plus, it took me awhile to get to the library, since I don't have a ride..."

The female's violet eyes narrowed at his words, but let out a deep sigh as she closed her book and put it down lightly on the wooden table in front of her. "It's fine... But I don't want you to be late anymore after today. I'll excuse you for now, since it's your first week of training."

"Yes, thank you..." Sawyer trailed off, extremely relieved from the small female's forgiveness and mercy.

"Alright, enough talking. Let's get started." Trinity began, motioning her hand towards the seat in front of her to Sawyer as she uncrossed her legs and sat up in her chair. "Since this is your first day with me, I'll answer any questions that you have."

Sawyer raised his eyebrow a bit, "Really? Ah, well then... what exactly are you going to teach me? I know Faron and Kai are going to train my fighting skills and such, but I'm not too sure as to what you're going to teach me."

"I'm just here to teach you about anything about the Saber Cards, Valcria, and everything about what we do with our abilities. I can fill you in on anything that you're confused about too." Trinity quickly explained, "I'm not too good with anything physical, so this is the least that I can do."

"No, I think that you teaching me about all the background information of everything is also very important!" Sawyer smiled, "So anyways, I do have a few questions... It's about the God of Destiny. I'm just really confused on why she--or he, I don't know--picked me, out of all people, to be a Saber Holder..."

Trinity slowly nodded her head and hummed a bit, "Well, none of us are sure as to how they exactly pick each Saber Holder, but our closest speculation is that every Saber Card is based on personality. For example, Faron's card is the Azure Rose Knight Saber Card. It's fitting, because she's extremely brave and has a strong sense of justice and loyalty."

"What about me, though? I don't think I'm that qualified for being a Saber Holder... You guys fit the roles so perfectly, but I'm just a normal person. Just a boring college student who easily blends in the city crowd like everyone else."

Trinity shook her head, "Self view is much more different than reality, Sawyer. Remember that. You may think of yourself as nothing, but there's much hidden potential in you that you're pushing away with all your doubt. Like I've said before, Saber Cards are giving to by one's qualities, but your Card is also fueled by them as well. If you don't have worth of yourself, you'll never be able to control and master your abilities, much less even summon its powers."

Sawyer's emerald eyes widened at the female's words. He never realized how much he put himself down with doubt. He always saw himself lower than the majority of society and thought that was the truth, but was proven completely wrong. Sawyer pursed his lips a bit, not as to how to respond to Trinity's words.

"We all have faith in you and your abilities, Sawyer." Trinity spoke up once more, "Faron, Kai, and myself. We all know that you have what it takes to be a Saber Holder and one of our teammates. We're also counting on you as well, you being an addition as our team is extremely helpful to our cause."

"R-Right, and I'll try my very best to aid you all."

Trinity smiled at Sawyer's words, "Of course, but you can't aid us just yet. You have to give yourself some credit before doing so, or else you'd be useless to us instead."
