Chapter 25: Through Blood

Time was completely still as Sawyer and Trinity took down every infantry soldier that was securing the parameter of the labor camp as they advanced towards the back of the building. Letting out a heavy puff of air after taking down his last soldier by knocking him unconscious with the handle of his lance, Sawyer's gaze shifted over to Trinity who was on his left. She was also taking down her last opponent by yanking her sturdy bow under the guard's neck and snapping it in one fell swipe. Sawyer slightly flinched when Trinity dropped the limp body on the ground with an earth-booming thud. He had only been able to knock out every human enemy he encountered and hasn't mustered up the courage to kill one yet, though it was understandable for someone like him. But, with how indifferent Trinity was with slaughtering each soldier that crossed her, he couldn't help but wonder when he'd reach that state of mechanical carnage. The simple thought of killing a human being sent chills down his spine, but he knew that he'd have to strike someone down someday. It was inevitable, and that only troubled him more.

"Alright, Sawyer," Trinity called out to the blonde as she pulled her bow back to her side. "All the guards are down, let's move onto our next task."

Sawyer nodded his head firmly, "Right." He closed his eyes for a split second to resume the time he froze before following Trinity behind towards the back of the labor camp. There was a large clearing behind the building for shipment trucks to enter the camp to deliver all sorts of supplies, as well as labor workers. There were also a number of military trucks parked further away from the building that were used for the soldier usage, but they were going to be "borrowed" by Sawyer and the others to transport the workers to Valcria for today.

Sawyer and Trinity climbed up to one of the closed garage doors on the building's back and once they were in position, Trinity pressed on her earpiece to speak into it. "We're in position to guide the workers out. Lilith, how are we doing on back-up?"

"I just sent the drivers down to you, they'll arrive in a couple of minutes," Lilith's dry voice immediately answered back. "Start letting the first wave of workers out and prep them for escape at the trucks."

Trinity sent Sawyer a quick gaze in response and he nodded his head in confirmation, taking the blade of his shining lance and slashed right through the bulky lock that held the garage door down. Carefully, he lifted it open and was immediately greeted by the countless of stares of anticipating workers that were waiting right on the other side of the barrier. He yelped in surprise when they all suddenly rushed out at full speed, jumping the side before he could get trampled over.

"That's... That's a lot of people..." Sawyer breathly whispered out, watching all the restless workers get their first breath of fresh air. He sent Trinity a wary glance, "Are you sure that's just the first floor?"

"They try to stuff as many people as they can on each floor, doesn't matter to them if it's ethical or not," Trinity replied back, turning towards the freed workers. "Attention, everyone! Follow my every command if you truly want to be freed from your chains of slavery!" She shouted over the ecstatic cheers of the prisoners, instantly catching their attention. She even caught Sawyer's attention with her sharp command, using a voice that he wasn't even aware she could muster up with her usual silent self. "We'll be sending you all to our underground base of Valcria, where you'll all be able to live in liberation. Our people will be here shortly to take you there with those military trucks. Let's prepare to take you all home."

Trinity jumped down from the raised platform and led the workers towards their destination, double check each and every truck of any complication. Once she finished, she turned to Sawyer and gave him a firm nod of verification before beginning to load the workers into the trucks. They swiftly filled the vehicles and was finishing their last bunch before Trinity and Sawyer heard the distant, frantic sobbing of a young girl from the very back of the pack of people.
