Chapter 19: Revolution's End

"We just finished a gigantic mission and we're gonna do another one?! Come on, can't we just take a break for a few days? We deserve it for our huge success!"

Amira watched Cain with narrowed eyes as he was sprawled on the large wooden table, groaning with laziness. The princess sighed, "No. We must take action immediately. Now that we have such a big company of the Rebellion's forces, their leader can strike at any time to rescue them. We must prepare and take advantage of our victory."

"Ugh, why are the Rebel's so tightknit and actually care for one another? They should just sacrifice their soldiers and play it safe. They're so stupid." Cain grumbled, sitting up from his seat and stretching his back from being bent down for so long.

"Well, from what our captives have said about their leader, she's only about the age of 20 and just recently took up command. She's young and naive, so there's no doubt she'll do everything to save her people. Plus, we had killed the Rebellion's previous leader a few years back, which happened to be her father. She's probably more hellbent on destroying the Government than any of her soldiers because of that." Amira explained with a bored tone, her eyes scanning back and forth from the large map that laid on the table and her strategies that she had scribbled down in her books. "But just because she's inexperienced and driven by emotion doesn't mean we should underestimate her. The Rebels say that she's a master with her blade and possesses a Saber Card."

Cain leaned back in his chair and threw his head back, staring up at the high ceiling with an annoyed expression. "And I'm assuming we're not allowed to kill her?"

"She'll be a strong and worthy ally." Amira responded back, causing Cain to groan once more. "But, that is only if she's willing to surrender. If not, then we might as well strike her down and get rid of the Rebellion once and for all."

"Alright... Then what's the plan?" Cain questioned as he sat back up in his seat and stared at Amira for an answer.

"I'll be sending you down to the Rebels again to gain more information from them. I want you to find where the Rebellion's main base is. My plan is to bring the Rebels as hostages and use them as bait to create a deal with their leader. If all fails, then we kill them all and be done with it. As simple as that."

Cain scoffed at the princess's words as he got up from his chair, stretching out his arms. "I doubt any of this will fall under peaceful terms... But whatever, your wish is my command. I'll be going now, I'll return once I gain enough information to create a plan."

Amira gazed up and slightly smiled at him, "I'm sure you'll return successful."

"I can't believe their leader actually agreed to meet us peacefully..." Cain mumbled quietly, stuffing his hands into his pockets and slouched over a bit.

"I doubt this meeting will end peacefully though..." Amira replied back with her arms tightly crossed over her chest. "Knowing how much the Rebels dislike us, they'll try to kill us even when we come to an agreement. I'll handle the talking, but keep your guard up and watch over the hostages. They might try to break out once they see their forces on the other side." She commanded, her sharp silver eyes glancing over to the captured Rebels behind her, being held down by her own soldiers. "If all goes wrong, kill them."

Cain laughed, "Ha! Gladly." He turned away and began to walk back to Amira's company and the hostages with a jolly skip in his step.

Amira watched him walk off before directing her attention back to the front. She narrowed her eyes and shifted her weight onto her left leg. "Tch... They're ten minutes late..." She mumbled darkly under her breath. Amira was a perfectionist and if there was one thing that bothered her over all things, it was her plans being thrown off schedule. She let out a deep grumble and brought her hand up to her face. "God, I might as well just kill off all the hostages and call it a day-" She began, but was cut off when she saw something emerge from the edge of the horizon. She squinted her eyes a bit as a view of multiple figures lined up in a clean formation began to grow closer and clearer. "There they are... Finally."
