Chapter 9: Only The Beginning
"Is the outside of Asirde's wall some kind of training grounds for you guys...?" Sawyer asked Kai as he followed the said male out into the open space he and Faron once trained on not too long ago.
"Yep! Here, we have as much room as we want and can be as destructive too!" Kai replied back with a cheerful tone. "Ooookay, right here should be good!" He stopped in the middle of a wide field that was completely covered with dead grass and dry dirt. He turned towards Sawyer and rested his knuckles on his hips. "Alright! Let's start training right away!"
"Uh... What exactly are we going to do-" Sawyer began, but cut himself off with a screech as he ducked to avoid a sharp kick from Kai. "What the hell was that for!"
"I said that we would begin training now, didn't I?" Kai snickered, Sawyer sent him a sharp glare. "Plus, I was testing your reflexes. They're a bit dull, but we can easily fix that."
"Wow, thanks for the input..." Sawyer grumbled, "Sheesh, Trinity wasn't lying when she said you were extremely blunt with your thoughts..."
"What? Trinity talked about me?" Kai raised his eyebrows with confusion, "Well, that sure is a first. She hates the simple thought of me, I didn't know she was capable to talk about me without sneering with annoyance."
"Well... She did rant a bit on how annoying you were to her, but she told me a lot about you and Faron." Sawyer informed, "I was just curious as to how you guys are like, so I asked her on her thoughts about you two."
Kai nodded his head slowly and hummed out loud, "Hm, interesting... Ah, whatever. That's not important right now. What's important is me training you. I'll be sparring with you for the whole time we're together."
"Sparring? Ugh, but I'm already sparring with Faron..." Sawyer whined out, "I'm still super sore from her 'easy' warm-ups..."
Kai let out a loud laugh, "Well, that's Faron for you. I guess she forgets that people aren't as strong as her, since her Saber Card enhances her strength by tons. But don't worry, we're both only training you in your sparring for now. As soon as you have enough endurance, Faron will help you on your ability and how to control it. I'll still be training your fighting skills though."
"Well, that's extremely relieving to hear..." Sawyer sighed out happily, "Though, just from your actions right now, I hardly doubt you're any better than Faron..."
Kai shrugged his shoulders, "I dunno, you tell me. At least you won't be accidentally shattered by one of Faron's simple punches." He laughed once more, making Sawyer grimace.
"That still might happen, you know... Please don't jinx it for me."
"Alright, alright! I'm shut up now. We have to get back to training anyways. So. Faron told me that you've had a bit of hand-to-hand combat experience. Judo, right?"
Sawyer nodded his head, "Yeah, but it's been awhile since I've done anything in that region, other than training with Faron. Plus, I don't think throwing techniques would be very effecting on people with weapons and guns..."
"Yeah, you're right..." Kai mumbled, resting his hands behind his head. "You know how to do simple sparring right? With punches, blocks, and kicks?" Sawyer once again nodded his head at the taller male's words. "Well, as long as you know the basics, I don't think we'll have much trouble." He let his arms fall back down to his side and took a few steps away from Sawyer. "Okay, since I have no idea how capable you are with your sparring, I'll let you attack me."
"Wait, what?!" Sawyer was immediately taken back from the amber haired boy in front of him, who wore a nonchalant expression. "You want me to straight up attack you?"
