Chapter 8 • I Can't Lie

A/N: chapter and title inspired by "I Can't Lie" by Maroon 5

Later that afternoon it had started to rain. And Rey found herself identifying with the horrible weather outside. Outside she looked fine but inside there was a storm raging.

She hated feeling guilty but here she was. Feeling utterly guilty.

Stupid Ren.

"Stupid stupid ren!"

"You're right he is really stupid. Quite the asshole if you ask me."

Rey didn't have to turn around to see who it was for she already knew.

"What are you doing back here?"

"I came to see you."

"You shouldn't be back here," Rey replied, her back still facing him.

"I've never been a fan of following the rules."

"I can see that but you still haven't answered my previous question, what are you doing here?"

"Like I said before, I came to see you."

"Then you should go."

"Rey..."

For a moment she closed her eyes gently, taking a deep breath before her hand stopped scrubbing at the stained countertop. Then she finally went to face him.

"What is it?"

"We have a lesson today, or have you forgotten?" A small smirk formed on his lips.

"I thought I cancelled."

"Oh yeah, about that, there's no cancellations when it comes to my lessons."

"You could've told me that when you first proposed the idea of these 'lessons'," Rey spoke slowly, making air quotes at lessons.

"I make the rules so I didn't exactly have to tell you," he stepped closer to her. "And if we are going to be honest I wanted to see you again."

"Uh huh. Well let me finish up some things and we could start the lesson I guess."

"You made a good choice."

"I didn't exactly have one."

"You're annoying."

"I know."

"And quite aggravating."

"I know that too."

"Also that I don't feel like reading this stupid play today."

"Who said we were reading Romeo & Juliet today?"

Rey soon stopped in her tracks and gave him a hard look.

"I thought this was what the lessons were about?"

"You're right about that. But today I've decided to change up some things."

"Change up things...huh?"

"You don't like change do you?"

Rey looked up to meet his eyes for a small moment before casting her gaze back onto the ground.

"Not one bit."

"We could change that."

Reaching forward Ren took her hand in his gently. At first Rey flinched at the touch, yanking her arm from his grip.

"Trust me."

Reaching forward once again, Ren intertwined his fingers with hers. This time Rey didn't give much resistance.

"Follow me."

He tugged at her hand, urging him to follow him. Reluctantly she did and the two went off into the night. The mystery of tonight's upcoming lesson still occupying Rey's thoughts.

A/N: Idk if y'all realized but I removed the "slow burn" tag while the burn will be slow it won't be a slow slow burn so things won't be as slow as before lmao but still somewhat slow. Also I recently got into the show "Riverdale" and I can't even like it's a really good show and based off of the Archie comics which i loved
