"Are you sure that'd work?" I ask Bam and Youngjae, skeptical as to what they're getting me into. I'm still not sure about all these. It's also been a year since I found out about what I really am and I still have a lot to learn. And now this? What sort of sorcery is this?
They take me to a place in the middle of nowhere ... well, not really. Kinda like just the backyard of an abandoned warehouse of some sort. Anyway, so, here we are, standing around the circle Youngjae just made with candles lit all around. I'm sure I've watched this somewhere on TV or movie or something like that.
Even after knowing what I can do and would be able to do, this still seems like child's play to me. For the times Gillian has trained me, she never, for once, shown me anything close to this. It's all just about wielding the power from within. I really thought modern witchcraft would be like that. Not this ... this magic straight out of a book.
"It needs the three of us to recite the mantra." Bam is saying as I continue to stare at the strange drawings inside the circle, wondering what Younjae used to write them. "Since your from now ... and you're going back in time, you only have a few minutes to stay there. You hear me?"
I nod.
"Don't touch anything..."
"I know." I interrupt him, irritated now at his repetitive reminders.
"Mark! Listen." Youngjae yells. "This is important. Heed our warnings. This is for your own good."
"Ok. Fine." I sigh. "Now, what do we do?"
Youngjae shakes his head, rolling his eyes at me. Bam looks at me with his most serious face. "We're just taking you along with us. We received a report that they saw Jinyoung in London. Since you only have a short time to stay there, you can't join in the action. You get me?"
I nod again, feeling nervous yet excited. "And, what year is this again?"
"1724!"
"Holy shit!" I chuckle. "For real?"
Bam pulls my left hand and Youngjae takes my right, pulling me inside the circle with them. "Remember," Youngjae looks at me one last time, "don't do anything ... Mark. I mean, anything."
"Let's do it already." I wriggle my brows at him.
"You recite with us."
I do as I'm told, stopping myself from laughing really loud, stifling my giggles.
"Focus!" Bam squeezes my hand and I close my eyes tight.
____
"What the ... " I open my eyes the instant I feel the two releasing my hands. I look around and gasp at what I see.
FUCK! We really are in the past ... long time in the past.
"C'mon." Youngjae pulls me behind him as I try my best to maintain my balance.
So, this was London. I've only seen it in movies and they're not even half as old as what I see now. Shit!
The fact that I'm thousands of miles away from home, not to mention, hundreds of years from my own time, still doesn't dawn on me. It's like I'm asleep and all these are just in my dreams.
"There!" I hear Bam shout. "That's him! Fuck!"
I try to look at what he's pointing at, straining my eyes at the dark streets. "What? Who?"
"Mark. Stay here." Youngjae lets go of me as they run across the road.
I see them now. A hooded man, who stands out among the thin crowd of people because of his modern outfit. He's holding a girl in his arms.
