Chapter 5

Before I start, I need you to know, that some of the terms I use in this story to give the entities are not real. I just made them up. Like the 'dunkler' for instance. It is true that there are 'Shadow ghosts', I've researched about them and they exist in our world for a mission. However, there's not one that has the same exact characteristics as the one I mentioned in the last chapter. So, I had to make one up. The term 'Dunkler' is actually a German word, which means 'dark one' or something like that. Haha.

I've done my research on witches and some otherworldly, but, I don't have that much time to do a lot. So, please, if you know anything or want to correct me on something, feel free to write me a message. If you have questions or are confused with some of the characters, just ask. I WILL answer.

Now, let's continue on with the story, shall we?

"You what?" I exclaim. I look at the time on my watch and it shows it's just a little almost midnight.

"I needed to see you." He comes closer. He reaches out for my hand. "Annie. I couldn't sleep. Maybe it's guilt .... or something else. I just .... Shit ..." He looks really troubled. I try to get into his mind, to see what happened, but, I can't.

"Then why would you come see me again? How did you even know where I live?" I ask him instead.

"I got it from James." He takes another step forward and there's just a foot between us. He looks down at me and I stare up at his teary eyes. "I don't know, Annie. I'm not really sure why I have to come see you. But, I feel like I need to."

I want to think and ask questions in my mind, but, he might hear it. So, I block my brain from anything regarding wizardry. I concentrate on his dark orbs coming near, and I see that spark in the middle of his right eye again.

"Guys?" Mae gets near us, breaking the electrifying feeling that's starting inside me. "We should go inside." Her voice is shaky, almost like a panic.

"What?"

She eyes me, furrowing her brows.

WHAT?

I look into her eyes and see 'shadows' ... a lot of them ....

I don't have to question her, now that I know she can feel them for sure. She still looks puzzled though, she might still be confused on why or how she's having these feelings. This is bad. I look at Mark, trying to hide my own panic. I grip his hand tighter and pull him towards the house. "We have to get inside." I tell him.

He allows himself to be dragged inside. Mae immediately closes the door behind us. "Shield it." She orders me.

"Take him in the study." I tell her, handing the confused boy to her.

"Wait." Mark resists. "What's going on?"

"No time to explain." Mae answers for me as I recite a chant softly. I hear their footsteps fading, running up the stairs. I hear Cecilia coming out of her room, still a bit dazed. I can also hear them ... the shadows ... from afar. They seem to be looking for something ... or someone ... maybe me. I'm not sure. But, I won't take chances.

As soon as I have a shield around the house, I feel myself weakening again. I feel my skin cracking at the back of my left hand and I quickly put on the gloves I have in my coat pocket. I know I shouldn't be using too much of my power up until I have revitalized completely .... I mean on my usual way. But, I have to, with an innocent person inside the house. Let's just assume HE IS innocent for now. There's still the possibility that he was the one who had summoned that shadow since it showed me an image of him. I just have to pretend I don't know for now, I can't fight him if ever. Not with me not being in my best condition.
