Arnisa

"Jinyoung!" I yell at the guy driving the car. We've been on the road for more than an hour already and he hasn't answered any of my questions yet. "What?"

"Can't you just wait?" He glances at me for a short while, showing me how annoyed he is. "I'm concentrating on keeping us alive ok?" He looks through the rear view mirror, checking on the dunklers and demons after us as soon as we left the villa earlier.

I casually spray fire behind us, turning some of them to dust. I'm sure Gillian is there somewhere. Could Gillian not be strong enough to get through my barrier? Earlier, too. I remember she only dodged all that I've thrown at her. The summoned ones with her were the only ones who came near.

"You're getting better and better at it." Jinyoung says, taking my attention away from the shadows who are already too far away.

"What?" I look at him.

"I totally can't read your mind anymore." He furrows his brows and glances at me.

I just roll my eyes at him. "That is not what is important here." I take a deep breath. "Now, tell me. What was that about? Mark was gonna kill me?"

"Yes. OK!" He yells, finally answering me.

"Why?" I don't want to sound scared. Since he couldn't read my mind anymore, I think I could hide whatever I'm feeling from him.

"Do you really have to ask? Haven't you figured it out yourself yet?" He slows down a bit when he realizes we've lost the 'monsters' - according to Mark - behind us.

"I know he's a warlock and is somehow related to Gillian. What else is there?"

"He's a descendant, Arnisa."

I literally don't know what to say. My mouth agape, I stare at the side of Jinyoung's face as he goes back to the road leading to his place.

"Yes, Arnisa." He continues after a long while of silence. "Gillian was carrying Luke's child when he died."

I swallow hard, still not knowing what to say. The guilt I felt when I saw Luke on the ground that day comes back ... a thousand times worst.

That just answers a lot of questions.

So, that's why Mark had the spell with him even without me putting it on him. Since Luke died without the spelling being removed from him, it was transferred to his unborn kid and was transferred to the next and to the next until it got to Mark. That's why Gillian was around him. She was protecting him when she knew I was in Korea. That's why they moved to Korea because I was in the US at that time.

But, if she knew I've met Mark, she could've just taken back the curse. Why didn't she? Well, maybe because now, she's using Mark to get to me. She might know how I kneel down when Mark asks me to do something .... that it'd be easy for him to get me. But, why didn't he then?

"Aren't you getting out?" Jinyoung is already holding the door open for me. I didn't realize we're at his place. I see Jackson and Lady Ealasaid at the entrance, looking relieved when they see me, too.

I quickly get out and walk towards Lady Ealasaid who gives me a hug. "I'm sorry I let you go with him." She says, tightening her hug.

"Nothing happened to me." I giggle. "I'm fine."

She chuckles, too. She holds me by my shoulders and a sly smile forms on her lips. "Obviously. I can clearly see that."

I raise an eyebrow at her, not really understanding what she means by that.
