"Alright. Next Monday at noon. Got it. Thank you. Bye."

"So it's official?" Cam asked, smiling at me weakly. He looked pale, as if he couldn't believe he had just let me practically schedule my death. I nodded, a huge smile plastered on my face, I'm sure I looked ridiculous, but at that point it really didn't matter.

"That's....uh.....great," Cam said, scratching his head and looking away. I knew that Cam would worry, but it was a decision I had made and there was no way I was backing out. This was my chance! I could walk again!

Before I could even open my mouth and form a reply, my phone rang. Giving my friend an apologetic look, I took it out and checked the screen. It was Sue, and apparently I had three missed calls from her.

Cam gave me a questioning glance and tilted his head. "Sue," I answered. "What? Sue?" Cam asked, looking excited. "Yeah," I laughed before pressing the green answering button. "H-Hello?" I asked, a little worried that Sue would be angry.

My thoughts proved to be right. "Where are you? Why did you leave without saying anything?!" her voice was rising, and I could tell she was yelling at me while fighting through the crowded hallways of school. Great, now everyone nearby her would know I was being chewed out by my best friend.

"I...had to leave I-" I couldn't finish my sentence before Sue's cutting voice interrupted me. "But where to? Andrew was freaking out, saying you answered some phone call and then got all weird and left! What is it?" She was mad, and I knew that I'd have to tell her everything to make her calm down a bit.

"Sue. I had a good reason for leaving, I jus-" I was cut off by my friend once more.

"Then explain was it is, because you worried Andrew, and then me. I called you three times, Karev! I thought something had happened to you! We both did! You can't just leave school without leaving any information on what you're doing and why! If you didn't answer this call, we probably would've called the police!"

Cam looked terrified. It was clear he had heard everything Sue said. I'd seen Sue irritated, but she had never been this mad at me. Or anyone, for that matter. I looked at Cam, but he only shrugged, his eyes wide.

"Sue, I'm sorry. I just got some information that startled me, is all. I had too much on my mind and I had to get out, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry anyone, I was surprised!" I answered, hoping she wouldn't stay mad.

The other end of the phone was silent, as if Sue was contemplating forgiving me. I didn't speak again, I felt like continuing to talk would only irritate her, Sue didn't like excessive excuses. So I crossed my fingers and closed my eyes, waiting for an answer.

"Well, what information?" she asked, her voice noticeably more calm. She was my best friend, I knew that keeping information from her was a bad idea, plus, I already told Cam. Sue was closer to me than Cam, and I knew that if she found out from him, she would be offended. Not that I could even blame her.

"There's a possibility..." I began, choking out the words. Silence on the other end, which was Sue's way of telling me to go on. "...that I could walk again. But it's only a possibility!" I said, waiting to see what she had to say.

I didn't have to wait long, because as soon as I mentioned walking again, Sue was freaking out. "What, really?! Oh my gosh, how?! When?!" She was nearly shouting now, and I had to hold the phone away from my ear. Cam laughed. Then he gave me a look. "You're going to have to tell her about the death part." he whispered, raising his eyebrows.

I nodded, frowning. I would tell her that part, but for now, I was just going to let her be excited about the possibility. No need to make her worry about my death when there was a chance - no matter how small - that I could walk again.
