I turn away from Angie's bed and pick up my phone. I dial Corey's number and he answers on the first ring. "Hey babe!" He says. "Hey Corey." I say. "What you up to?" He asks. "Nothing much." I answer. "I'm sorry I had to run off earlier." "It's fine." Corey says. Someone knocks on the door. "I need to go." I say. "So soon?" Corey says with fake disappointment. "I'll call you later." I say. "Love you." I hang up and open the door. Ida runs in. "Ms Hampton is getting on my nerves." She says. "What did she do?" I ask. Ida hands me a piece of paper. It says:
Ms. Hampton cordially invites you and all the students of Ms. Hampton's academy for girls to a student dinner tonight.
Please dress in appropriate formal dresses.
The dinner will begin at
Seven o'clock tonight in the school cafeteria."Seriously?!" I scream. "What is this? 1850?" Ida rolls her eyes. "Just go get a dress on." "You're going to let her boss us around?" I say. "No. We're going to turn her dinner into a disaster."
