"Danger is coming. You know that don't you?" Bast says. "Duh!" I say sarcastically. Bast glares at me. "I've known since I got my powers." I say. Bast opens her palm, and a ball of green fire hovers above her hand. "For over four thousand years, I was contained in a secret chamber. My essence was in a vial of serum. About six years ago, the chamber was found. The intruders found the vial and tried to copy the serum." "And they did." I say. "It was the serum that I got injected with." Bast shakes her head. "Not even science can copy magic." She says. "The original serum was never meant to be used. But it was accidentally switched. The real serum, the one with my essence, was given to you." "No wonder I didn't die." "Over the two years I was asleep, I had dreams." Bast says. "You were not the only survivor." "How many survived?" I ask. "Of the seven thousand people who were given the serum? Forty three." She says. "And in a few months, the one who made the serum will hunt down the survivors." "What should I do?" I ask. "Until the time comes, learn to use your power to your advantage. You can control it, you just don't know how to use it." "When do I start?" Bast smiles. "Right now."
